I'm not really sure how this happens, but apparently Diamond is already soliciting a new printing of the yet to be released Angel After the Fall #1 from IDW.
The book is due in stores by the end of the month and I guess they've already printed the issue for release. The only thing I can figure is that retailers have been upping there initial orders and have already bought up the initial print run even before it's release.
Anyway, I thought this was interest and figured I pass the info alone. Anyone planning on picking copies up might want to do it when it is released instead of waiting.
For those interested in ordering the new printing as well, the order code is: SEP078061.
Here is the official preview description for those you may not be aware of the series.
- Angel: After the Fall
THIS IS IT! The official continuation of the ANGEL series! When last we saw Angel and company, they were charging into battle against Wolfram and Hart's Senior Partners and facing down endless demons in a dark and rainy alleyway. Now, IDW Publishing is proud to present the story of Angel: After the Fall, as presented by Angel co-creator Joss Whedon, with a creative team hand-picked by Whedon himself, the Spike: Shadow Puppets team of Brian Lynch and Franco Urru.
Picking up where Season Five of the fan-favorite TV show ended, the first issue in this maxi-series looks at who lived after that climactic battle, who died, and what happened to all of Los Angeles in its wake.
"Angel and his friends took a stand because he thought it was the right thing to do. They fought the good fight even though they were probably going to lose, even though they were facing insurmountable odds," says Lynch. "But that's the thing about insurmountable odds...surmounting them can be quite a witch. The series begins to tackle the fall-out of Angel's stand, and what it cost everyone near, around, and close to him."
Acclaimed artist Tony Harris (Ex Machina) and Urru provide special covers for each issue of this momentous series. Issue 1 features a full 27 pages of story and art!

This will be great for fans of the show. I ordered this from DCBS and am looking forward to it. Does the second print surprise me-nah. Buffy season 8 has already had four printings with another on the way.

I'm definitely looking forward to this series. If it's half as good as the Buffy: Season 8 comic than it'll be pure gold in my book.

I'm not really surprised about it going back to print. I expect it to have a number of printings. What surprised me is that it already went into a new printing even before the original has been released.
It bodes well for the series. Hopefully it pulls in a lot of non-traditional readers. Even if I wasn't excited about the series, I'd be happy just because it potentially broadens the reader base.

I don't necessarily have high hopes after all the other mini-series... but I'm definitely excited to have the real story pick up again. As a huge Angel fan it's on my pull-list.

yup. excited too. BUT I am concerned that Joss is being spread thin with all the comic projects he has going.

He isn't writing it, I believe he worked out the plot and probably has approval. He did hand pick the writer Brian Lynch. He is the guy who just wrote the Spike Shadow Puppets and Asylum mini-series, which I thought were both very good.
I agree with azhag2 that many of the IDW Angel minis haven’t been that great, but I did actually enjoy the the Lynch Spike stories. He wrote them with a great sense of humor that I think mirrors the writing in the show.
Anyway, can’t wait to see how it ends up.

I have been seeing this more and more. This is yet another symptom of IDW variant fever. Candidly, knowing how well Buffy sold, they had to have a really good idea of how many to print.
Can you not hear them now, "We could print tons of first prints... or just have a second printing since we know that many of those who bought the first print will also buy the second print!!!"

The only thing Angel-related that I've enjoyed so far from IDW is Peter David's Spike vs. Dracula series. The other stuff has been filler, and I don't consider it canon in the least.

Sooo....
Has anyone actually been reading this?
The story's been kinda so-so for me, but this last issue (4) was at least on par with the Buffy stuff that's been coming out. Slow start, but hopefully things are on the upswing.
I just wonder because no one really seems to be talking about it...
