I’d occasionally thought it to be a lot of work for not much return, it turned out that it actually is interesting to know that there’ve been 202,592 copies of Incredible Hulk #181 printed, that over 2,000 have been submitted for grading - the top copy being in CGC 9.9 condition, and that it fetched $22,500. Do you think it's accurate? That's new for me. I expected the print run of comics in the 70's was much lower. Man, this is a common book.

Keep in mind any comic that accepts advertising will try to increase it's circulation to jack up ad rates. If that means printing twenty thousand extra copies to warehouse, shred or just give away it is still profitable. The 202 thousand reported printing is no surprise at all. (That doesn't mean however that that number still exist or ever were released to the public. The $22,500 spent on a 9.9 copy however seems simply nuts to me)

I thought the average Epic issue of Groo had a print run of 120,000 in its heyday. I don't think 202,592 is that high a print run in comparison. Didn't some of the Spider-man and X-titles in the '90s have runs in the millions?

Marmat, Where did you get that info on the 9.9? The reason I am asking is I swore up and down to King about two months ago I saw a 9.8 sell for around $14,000. But could never find it. Any help is appreciated.

well, look at it this way... how hard is it to find copies of Hulk #179 or #184? or other, non-wolverine, printed at a similar time issues?
it's the DEMAND, much more than the supply, that makes the rules here. |

Not hard at all, they are usually grouped in runs with other issues though.
The thing about the print run is that he speaks in the present tense as opposed to the past, so I am wondering if he is including other printings of that book, such as Panini's German Edition? To be honest, I dont think any book from the 70's had a print run that high but I could be wrong.
You are so owned and I am so keeping up the payments!
