Mouse Guard rocks!
Gave me a solid flashback of a book I loved as a kid:
The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly CLeary
I will continue to pre-order Mouse Guard...
Odd size for a comic though, can't find a bag to fit it... I guess I'll have to try a magazine B&B

there's a HUGE buzz about this book, and it's already sold out. I bought one copy yesterday, but I'm thinking I might pick up one or two more

I will let you know what I think of the comic in a couple of days, its somewhere amongst my " to be read " pile

Wow I just took a look around the internet and no one seems to have this book. Most places didn't get any.

I grabbed the only copy my LCS got in and thought it was very good. It is a odd shaped book as lookwhoitis said, had to put in a magazine bag/board.

It's now official. After reading issue 2 I have to say this is the BEST comic I am reading since a bunch of years. The last page of issue two almost made me cry. Too bad you have to wait 2 months for the next issue. Comics are not only DC and Marvel. I hope somebody else here is enjoing this as much as I do |

The only reason I didn't pick up the 1st issue was the odd size. i remember thinking "I'll never find a bag to put that in."
From the rave reviews I've heard I wish i hadn't been such a dumbass. |

Hubby and I love it. Fantastic story.
And I thought the same thing at first about the size. Seems to fit in SOME Golden Age B&B. We tried BCW and another one, it fit in the BCW one. It would have bent a little in the other. Not sure the brand on that one - we don't use them often, so it's been lying around a while.

I've all three issues, and enjoy them a lot-- clearly aimed for the children's book market, I think, hence the 'odd size'. Definitely worth the added expense ($3.50 I think), one of the few.

Read it, loved it...
Just noticed that the price on the guide jumped to 50 bucks for 1st printing of #1... craziness.
Can't wait to see where the story goes next. |

Not really. It is an exceptional tale (tail?) and it was limited to only 8,000 copies. Also $50 - $60 is the going rate on Ebay at the moment.

I really am enjoying Mouse Guard. Picked up the first three issues after reading this thread, and I love them. I'm kicking myself for not picking up the first printing of #1; I passed it up when they had a bunch of them on the shelf a while back.

This book Rocks. As my wife klindsay said I love it. Great art and the story is fantastic. I met David Peterson At wizard world, he was not on the list or I would have brought the 2 first prints of #1 with me. I did manage to buy a 2nd printing of number 1 and he signed it. He also had some original art there for sale. to bad I ran out of money cause it was nice stuff.

Love this - just bought a page of art from him, and am doing a phone interview early next week.
Great story that leaves you wanting more, very nice art. |

David Petersen was a pleasure to talk to for our interview. Certainly one of the nice guys in the field (and honestly, there are many - I've rarely had a bad experience in dealing with creators).
Very fun - wish him all the best. |

Second printings of Mouse Guard 1 are really rare. There was only 4,000 copies of the second printing, which is half of the first printing. The second issue had a print run of 10,000. I don't know the print run of issue 3 (it's already gone to a second printing, though), but I know the fourth issue had a print run of 20,000. Mouse Guard is one of the best comics to come along in years. I highly recommend it. I've spoken with David, too, and he gave me a great interview that I ran in my weekly newspaper column on comics. I'm actively trying to get some original art from him. I love Mouse Guard and have recommended it to about 30,000 people in my columns (that's how many people read my daily newspaper). I know my reviews have helped sell extra copies at local comic shops. Get the word out. This is the next Bone. Mike B. |

i bought my girlfriend a copy of #1 (and 1 for myself of course) and she didnt really like it so i didnt get her any more. when i told her it was going for 50$ now she was like "hmmm, i wonder what i did with that?"
sheesh! girls!
aww well, i dont buy em for her to bag and board but to read and enjoy and do what she likes with.
i also had picked her up the first 5 issues of girls when they came out and, after reading them and not liking them she gave them away to the girl who was waiting on her at the restaraunt she was reading them at because she commented on them.
sheesh! girls! |
