I decided to start this thread after reading another older thread concerning the state of the comic indusry. Good work and originality really count in making a comic a success.

Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo series is all that and more. An original idea, lots of research, great art and writing, total control and ownership of his series, a dedication to meeting deadlines: all of these have made Usagi Yojimbo a great success for Stan Sakai.

With twenty-plus years in the business now, Stan is still a relative new-comer, but he also enjoys the privilage of being able to rub shoulders with and be considered one of the greats of the industry. And if you ask his fans and contempories alike, you will be told that he has the well-earned reputation of being one of the nicest people in the comic industry.

If you have read Usagi Yojimbo, you should already know all this. If you have not read it, you are missing one of the best creator owned comics being produced.
