I had a collection brought to me today of 1968-1976 Marvel and DC. I sifted through it to evaluate a possible offer to buy the lot. It was a collection of mostly Giant Size Marvel and 100 Page Giant DC's. most were poor condition. After about an hour looking through the collection I found only 2 books that interested me, Adventure Comics #431 5.0 and Hulk #180 3.5 . I had decided to try and purchase only these two books and move on, so I began loading the collection back into the Metal Ammo Box it was brought to me in.

However a few books caught my eye and I started reading. To my surprise, this collection has a Marvel Spectacular #10 which is double covered. I was just curious how this error changes the value? The book itself has zero demand, so I figure double cover means nothing.

In general how does double cover effect most average books? Does this change if its a key issue?

When being graded, they will assign a grade to each cover. As for what it is worth, there are some people who chase double covers and might be interested in them, but otherwise no real help towards the value.

Where does he get those wonderful toys!

I have yet begun to surrender.

Often...but not always...the outer cover will protect the inner cover and thus keep it in a higher grade...

...those who restore comics are often on the lookout for "extra covers"...

I have about a dozen double covers I've acquired over the years...from Golden Age to Modern...so they've been cropping up since the beginning...

I just came across one yesterday in my box of Spectacular Spider-Man, #107 I think.
