MCP you amaze me. Great work!
I got a question for you. I've got a couple books were the staples are starting to get rusty to the point I'm afraid they're going to start staining the cover. The rust hasn't gone through to the staple ends on the inside for some reason, I guess because the paper protects that part. Anyway, do you ever replace the staples? I was thinking about gently un-bending the old ones, doing them one at a time, and pulling them out and replacing them with new ones. For nothing else but to keep the cover from being stained. And would general use staples be ok, or do I need to get a special kind?
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Thanks bud. To answer your question there is a good chance the rust won't spread as long as you keep it in a low humidity enviroment and I mean low.

The problem with replacing the staples is it would be noted on a CGC label and the damage thats done to the paper replacing them could lower the grade which would offset the clean staples.

If you do decide to replace them you need cadavors from a book in similar decade. If you decide to clean them it could me PLOD. So you see, your really screwed no matter what.

BTW , it's real easy to do some serious damage to the paper removing the staples and putting new ones in. Re-inserting staples is the task I dislike the most.

Thanks. I'll probably just leave them alone then.

Is it possible to clean the staples without removing them?

. [color:#FFCC66] [size:14pt]Book 6 Incompleted

Hi all, I have removed a foreign staple and tape
from this Strange tales # 114 and now I am at
a crossroads and need your help. Please look
at a the photos and let me know weather you
think I should just put it back together or if I
should fix some of it's defects.

The defects that I propose to repair are as follows:
A: tears seals. This book has allot of tiny and large tears.
B: Detached centerfold repaired.
C: piece fill. Badly trimmed back cover top edge.
TBH I was considering leaving  A and B alone but when
I saw C it just didn't feel right letting it have a trimmed
label  which is why I have asked for your votes.

If you choose to vote for some restore then please pm
me or post reply with which ones to be done A,B and or C.

It is also open for discussion.

The top edge of the backboard represtents
where the cover should end.

If it was my book I would be requesting whatever work that is needed to stabilize it.
