I noticed this price oddity with the Uncanny X-Men books.

Issue 220 and those similar to it are priced at 8.00 just like issue 185 and those similar to it.... BUT issue 185 at 8.0 is 4.00 while 220 at 8.0 is 6.40. How is this? Is this fixable?

Those are the intended price structures for those issues. An FF 1 in GD follows a different price algorithm than an FF 350 in GD for example.

I understand that because of course the FF 1 is priced extremely higher than FF 350 but in the case of the Uncanny X-Men books, they all top off at 8.00 in 9.4 condition yet in 8.0 condition are not the same value. In fact, the older issues that top off at 8.00 for 9.4 are in lesser value in 8.0 condition than the newer books at 8.00 in 9.4 condition.

See where i'm getting at concerning this?

Each "Age" has it's own algorithm...Golden, Silver, Bronze etc...

The newer a book is...the less value attributed to lesser grades due to the ease in finding an NM/M copy.

On older books the lower grades don't depreciate as rapidly...

If you are finding some other sort of anomaly, let me know...a formula could be off...

Not to insert myself into this conversation, but maybe this will help explain his question.

UNCANNY X-MEN #185

9.8$16.009.6$12.009.4$8.00
9.2$6.409.0$5.608.5$4.80
8.0$4.007.5$3.207.0$2.40
6.5$1.606.0$1.445.5$1.12
5.0$0.964.5$0.804.0$0.64
3.5$0.563.0$0.482.5$0.40
2.0$0.321.8$0.241.5$0.16
1.0$0.080.5$0.04

UNCANNY X-MEN #220

9.8$11.209.6$9.609.4$8.00
9.2$7.529.0$7.368.5$7.04
8.0$6.407.5$5.607.0$4.00
6.5$3.206.0$2.005.5$1.60
5.0$1.444.5$1.284.0$1.12
3.5$0.963.0$0.802.5$0.64
2.0$0.481.8$0.321.5$0.16
1.0$0.080.5$0.04

Both have the same value for a 9.4, but the older issue is worth less at an 8.0.  I think he is asking why the older book is showing as a lower value at a comparable grade when the have the same value at a 9.4.  Your explanation of the algorithm involved makes sense, but it begs the question of why the newer book is worth more as the grade goes down when they are of equal value at a 9.4.  I think that's the basic question anyway.

There are several anomalies where a 9.4 book is worth lets say 10.00 for a book lets say issue 183 and is also worth 10.00 in 9.4 for lets says issue 250 yet at 8.0 grade the values are different.

Also Shadow, if you look at my thread "Hey Earl" I was some valid questions in there as well.

Thanks Shadow. As always, you are awesome!

Thank you ND. Don't know how you got the graphs but that is my question exactly. Thanks.

Nothing complicated, just a copy/paste from the price guide.  I thought some visuals might help cut through the confusion.  Glad I could help.
