I recently purchased this comic because it looked cool and rare.  It is in decent shape, printed 1982, and is in French.  The comic consist of three different stories; X-Men 101, the Defenders, and Nova.  I was able to find some information on STLComics site but not much.  Can someone tell me where I could find more information and a possible value for this comic?

Thanks,

Joe

What you have is a french book from Canada! It was made in Montreal and had an approximative 8000 to 12000 print run.And it is much harder to find in NM or even VF than any U.S. book I know of!! The problem is that since we are (French Canadians) a minority in Canada and our french conterparts are sooooo far away from us (France),they do not know that we made french translations of U.S. books except for a few emlightened ones!! So there is no Overstreet-like list of price for those books. It is up to you americans to establish their collectibility because they ARE really hard to come by EVEN here in the Province of Quebec, where they were made!!!! We are lucky IF we find some in better than VG!!! When I was younger I collected almost everything from Editions Héritage because being french canadian I was not able to read in english. It is indirectly because of Héritage that I now read and speak english because when they stopped doing super-heroes comics in the 80's I had only one choice:Buy english comics with a new story each month or going back to european books with a new story every 2 or 3 years!!

And there was also 6 books made in color that were made by Les Éditions Soleil, probably Héritage before they change name (Comics were in color at the end of some runs like Spider-Man and Iron Man,probably to spike up the sales but to no avail!!!).Those are the rarest of them all and the harder to find in great shape as they were made from cover to cover in pulp paper and had probably the lowest print run. They were L'Étonnant Spider-Man #1-2(The rarest of them all!!!),L'Incroyable Hulk #1-3 (Less hard to find than SM),and Fantastic Four #1 (The more common of those 6 books but still VERYYYYY hard to find!).From Spider-Man #3 to 9,Hulk #4 to 9 or 10 and Fantastic Four #2 to 10 or 11 they were made by Héritage as double issues and after that single,36 pages books like their american father!!! Some of those are much harder to find too like Captain America #5 being harder to find than #1,Dracula 11 Fantastic Four #6 ...

All in all a MUCH harder collection to do than the real, original issues from Marvel and DC !!!!! And MUCH MUCH MUCH more harder in high grades (Think here as Very Fine being the top grade, with a VF+,VF/NM ,NM- OR NM here and there!).Their problem is that they are reprints, not originals so americans and most canadians pass them over BUT for those collectors searching for a challenge........here it is!!!!!!!

Hope I helped you some!! Have a great day!!!!

Very friendly yours!!!!  Coup Mortel (Killing Strike in english!!)

Coup Mortel,

Thank you for that information.  I knew it looked like a good buy but I didn't know that it was that hard to find.

Thanks again,

Joe
