| Hi all. After collecting books for the past 35 years, i finally decided last month that i need them electronically cataloged, and i wanted to know how much they were worth. I checked out a bunch of sites, and found another site (not sure if i should mention it here). It was free, and it seemed pretty good. The problem is, as i have begun my project, i have noticed that the pricing on some more obscure books seems to be off. In looking at their forums, it seems that all the pricing is being done by hand, by the 2 owners (2 very dedicated owners, i must say). But if i do this project, i'd like it done right. So i did some more digging and found this site. I am considering starting over here, but i'd like to know the answer to some questions before i decide to spend for an account here. 1) Can you import books from a excel or comma deliminated file into this site? i cant seem to see how that is done. 2) Likewise, can you export to a excel file? i'd like to have a hard copy of all my work in the rare event this site goes POOF one day. 3) How is the pricing here handled? are prices updated automatically, and how often? im sure i'll have other questions, but these are the ones ive found in my initial walkthru. thanks in advance, guys.

Welcome! 1) Not at this time... 2) Yes.... 3) Price updates are done by a dedicated volunteer staff on an "as-needed"/"as-requested" basis...which amounts to something in the database being updated reqularly 24/7...that being said...we have the largest database in the world of issues from a world-wide inventory ...broken down into more than a dozen grade levels for each issue...amounting to hundreds of thousands of possible updates. We research markets worldwide and only update if there is a proven trend or consensus... We rely on the thousands of dedicated member/collectors to bring trends/needed updates to our attention...which we then research through online sales and dealer input, and update as necessary. We have an update module that tells us what hasn't been updated and how long since the last update...and we regularly reseach items that pop up on that report... Even with those, we have books that haven't been updated since they were entered many years ago...because there has been no recordable data showing they have ever increased/decreased in market value. We don't change prices just to change prices...nor do we do a "blanket" increase of all issues just because another year has gone by... If something is hot...we try to stay on top of it...If it's gone into the trash barrel, we try to stay on top of that also...bottom line is we are a "guide" and the market determines what something is worth, not us... I don't think you'll find a more current listing any where...but then I tend to be a little bit prejudice...

| thank you very much for your informative answers! can you tell me please HOW you export to an excell file. I input just a handful of books as a test, and i'd like to see how the file looks. I cant seem to see how its done. Or is it an option that i can only see when i become a paid member? thanks again!
EDIT: Nevermind, i found it looks great, by the way! thanks again
