This one I picked up because it was published in Ireland, made it seem all offbeat + exotic. Earl no doubt won't see it that way...

Maura #1

This'll be my post for the guys who like cheesecake covers.

Oh boy.. Would I totally BONE her!

My 2nd choice was "She looks like she just got boned." - both involving 'bone' of course.

Tooken it real slow this week -- since the beginning of September I've been buying books faster than I can read them, and I decided it's time to reverse that trend. At least long enough to catch up. And maybe smell a rose or two. ("OK, I smelled it. Now what? Where are those Dreadstars?")

And I have some very exciting EBay stuff happening; there's a batch of books coming in this week probably that I'm going to start talking about in a day or two, tease y'all along a little before they arrive.

What did I buy, six books this week? Eight?

Honor Neeze And The Swedish Stewardesses #1 (this is a kid-friendly forum, DON'T ASK.)
Indiana Jones And Da Temple of Doom #1
Jack Of Fables #1 (to go with the 2-4 that I bought 2 weeks ago.)
New Mutants #20

plus these little fellers:

WHY IS THIS CHIMP CRYING?
Hugo M.

Nice!

I sure would like to read that Phony Pages! That's a cool Cap rip-off!! LOL!! That cover on X-Force #1 is stellar!

Interesting stuff brother. I love to see stuff from off the beaten path.

***** EBay excitement on the horizon *****

About two weeks ago, I was cruising the bay and I saw an amateur that had put up a couple of Golden Age comics. Low opening bids, fairly interesting titles... The auction listings didn't give much information; about the only thing it said was "comics are in good condition", but there were decent clear photographs and they all seemed to be in the area of VG+, one that looked like it might be an F, so I took a stab at them...

Won all four; three of them never got a second bid, and the fourth one got bid up like maybe an extra dollar before it closed, so I got 1 second-string superhero, one "true" crime book, a Disney title and a newspaper-reprints comic for... pretty dang cheap. If the condition holds, I figure I paid 15 - 20 % of Guide for them

I was happy.

I sent an e-mail explaining what kind of packaging I needed, "two pieces of stiff cardboard and maybe if you're feeling inspired, some produce-bags from the grocery." Message came back saying "I can do that. It'll go out exactly that way."

I was happy.

A few days later, I got another e-mail; apparently, the seller had been disappointed by how poorly the comics performed at auction and decided they weren't worth the trouble of dealing with -- the e-mail said:

Hello. I wanted to let you know that the comics will be mailed tomorrow morning. I am a little late in getting them out. In addition to the 4 that you purchased, I have sent you all the comics that I had. If you don't want the extras, please feel free to toss them. I really have no use for them. I apologize for getting this package out later than expected.

Given that the four I bought were all from 1945 - 1948, I'm ... um... just a little bit excited about this new development. I'm like a five year old waiting for Christmas is what I am. Imagine the possibilities.

I'm leaving town for a couple of days for T'anksgiving, and I'm imagining the package will arrive sometime shortly after I get back. Until then, I'll just have to suffer.
