As I go through my older disney comics..Moreso Gladstone than others..I keep seeing these hardback books for sale...I wish I could have collected them as a child but mylord the exchange rate would have been terrible.

Does anyone have these libary collections at all?

Unless I'm mistaken the reference is to the "Russ Cochran" style hardcovers. The ones that reprint "Four Colors, WDC&S, etc".
I have the 1st Donald Duck Volumes (FC4-223) and the 1st Uncle Scrooge set.
That would account for the Gladstone ads, and the "high" postage rate.
There is a set that reprints the "oddball" Duck Four Colors (Duck Album, Gradma Duck, etc.) that is the most expensive one currently.
I was dumb enough not to buy it new! BigGrin

There are these ones-

Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse in Color (Signed) (Limited Edition)
Floyd Gottfredson, Carl Barks. Gladstone. This is the special DELUXE 60th anniversary edition. Included in the 248 page book are 72 pages of full colour Sunday pages by Floyd Gottfredson, 72 pages of daily pages by Gottfredson, and rare early Carl Barks Mickey Mouse drawings, including the only Carl Barks Mickey Mouse story ever done printed here for the first time. Every book includes a 7" picture disk featuring an interview with Barks and Gottfredson. A sumptuous LIMITED EDITION (3000 copies) SIGNED and NUMBERED by BOTH artists. Hard Cover Full Colour 16" x 12" £195.00

Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge In Color
Carl Barks, storybook painting by Norman McGary, commentary by Geoffrey Blum. Gladstone Publishing, 1987. First Edition. Out of Print. Mint. A superb quality reprinting of three of Carl Barks' Uncle Scrooge stories. These entail Christmas On Bear Mountain, the first appearance of Scrooge, from the Comic book Donald Duck four-color #178, plus reprintings of Uncle Scrooge's Christmas Carol & Uncle Scrooge & The Lemonade King.

The latter two were originally Whitman book edition & are now highly sought after. There is also text commentary by Barks scholar Geoffrey Blum, with examples of Barks famous oil painting of Scrooge. A treat for Disney & Barks fans. 1st print, as new dust wrapper, unmarked. 90 pages. Hard Cover Full Colour 9" x 12" (23cm x 30cm) Dust Jacket

Both I'd love to own but expensive from some bookshop I've never heard of but I'll still look for the others.

Ahh....now I know which books we're talking about!
The reason those didn't occur to me right away is that I have the #'d/slipcased editions, signed by Barks etc.
The multi~volume hardcovers would cost a ton to ship downunder though! BigGrin
So Uhhhhhhhhh......what was I saying?

The original Abbeville Press hardbacks were large "coffeetable-size" books and looked like this...

Though a later run seems to have been done in yellow...

And they also did a series of smaller hardbacks...(I believe these were also available i softcover)

Still working on the full listing...:hmmmm:

I bought one of these back when they first were offered for sale back in the day. I am a huge fan of Gottfredson. No one could draw and write Mickey the way he did. It is a great book BTW. I paid $250 CDN for mine.
