Silver Age Surfer (9/12/2009) I think you guys are being brutally picky with a grade of 2.0 or 2.5.
...
I'd totally bump this up to a 3.0 at a glance.
And I would bump it up even higher to a 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510
Unacceptable, sir! You've gone too far! 3.13462847645783736485757653463834675834745648476563 MAYBE, but you'd be pushing it.
Every 0.5 counts man. By undervaluing individual issues, you end up with an undervalued collection at the end of the day. And that sucks.

But... you can eat MY grade!

In the end, that 0.5 is subjective.
I try to go low for two reasons (in my incredible short experience):
1) I tend to always go higher than most people say, so I knock my own estimate down by 0.5 - 1.0
2) I like to NOT give false hope.
With this comic it does have a 40% effect on the price between a 2.0 and 3.0:
3.0 (G/VG) = $40.25
2.5 (Good+) = $34.50
2.0 (Good) = $28.75
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Oh please, you couldn't even turn into Bill Bixby.

Both excellent reasons for going low. And I know a lot of people who are pretty hard on their collection. But by punishing a comic rather than taking the middle road when grading it, you're doing yourself a disservice imo, even if you do tend to grade high.
The question that defines the parameters for coming up with an answer to the question "How much is my comic worth?" is "How much is someone willing to pay for this?" I see it all the time on eBay - CGC copies of Silver Surfer #4 in 8.5 or 9.0 conditions listed between $700 and $2,000 or more when a 9.4's present book value is only $600 - but that just means sellers out there are looking to capitalize on the issue's "at a premium" status. If someone pays 2 grand for it, then it was worth 2 grand to them, but that doesn't change the fact that it's graded at 9.0 and will always carry the associated book value.
So basically I don't think the 0.5 is subjective. I think the value we attach to that grade is.

I'd say the original 2.5 assesment is deadly accurate. No way it's any higher, I have a few slabbed 3.0s that all look better. That sub crease kills it along with the tearing at the bottom right and then just the general heavy wear associated with the grade. Make no mistake, I heart this book (see avatar)

I dunno. Books that are severely disfigured but still in collectible condition (missing pieces of the cover, major flaking, removed coupons, tape, rusted or loose stapes and full rolls) can get away with a 2.0 at this age and level of importance, so 2.5 is still low imo. I totally think the seller under-graded this issue. No clue why I'm so sure of that from looking at the cover, but for some reason I am.

Well, I got the book a few days ago so here are a few pictures I took of it. They might not be the best but I don't have a scanner so this is the best I could do. Also, I left them pretty big so you guys could get the best look and help me determine if the initial grade is correct once and for all. If you need them resized, that isn't a problem either.

Again, thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

i tend to grade low my self and i agree with silver age surfer now having seen the images of what you got. A VERY NICE ACQUISITION!!!!
However The Date stamp catches my attention because i have an issue of T.H.U.N.D.E.R.agents #18 with a date stamp and i'm not shure how to grade it my self. so it's at the 9.4 default grade that it gets when it's added it to my collection.
