Going through the FF listing I noticed some odd pricing. Issues like 277 NM are priced (9.4) at 4.40. Where did you get an unusual number like this? Why not 5.00 or 4.50 or 4.00?
Just wondering.

Gotta admit I thought that was odd too... agree that pricing should just round off, in this case $5/$4.50/$4 like you said.

Sounds like an average.

An average what? What makes a price stop at 4.40? Why not 4.50 or 4.00 or 5.00? Seems odd.
That's like instead of me telling you to meet me at 8 I ask you to meet me at 7:52.

An average of the reported sales for that issue. Yes they could round it but isn't the idea to "accurately" represent the data at hand? Rounding doesn't make it more accurate or necessarily help in an over the counter sale final tally. As well, there is no law/rule/standard that says that a guide has to report to the nearest quarter of a dollar.

True, but I really doubt the average comes out to 4.40 at the 9.4 grade. I cannot imagine several different sellers and shops all reporting that they sell every issue for 4.40 each at the 9.4 grade.
But again, it's just an observation.

Well you don't have to have anyone selling a book at $4.40 to have an average of $4.40 ... just FYI

Wait, now I remember! I see $4.40 prices on back issues all the time! OK, no I don't. But that's the observation that I see. Actually, I don't see a lot of 'odd' prices above $3.00 @ 9.4 grade, usually rounded off to 50¢ up to $4.00, and then the nearest dollar after that. Don't think I've seen a $2.75 listing yet, but @ $2.50 and less its rounded off to 25¢. Yep, that FF run sure is special...

I've seen some odd prices on a lot of Marvel books from around that time.
Hey Earl, i'm interested on how you arrived at those prices? Is it a mathematical thing?

BTW it is a non-typical value, which is why I mentioned it might be the result of straight averaging of available data. I think I would like to see more of this type of value rather than the standard rounded values elsewhere.
Not that it really matters that much to me right now considering none of my non-slabbed book are graded to even assign values to them
