argus (8/16/2009) Regardless of any issues Wizard may have, and how people may feel about them, any comic-related publisher that goes out of business is bad for us as a whole.
At least you can occasionally find Wizard at a newsstand. How often do you see comics there?
Just a thought.
There is a reason there are no comics at newsstands. Only a few large book stores and (some) 7-11's have deals with either Diamond or the publishers directly and it is a VERY limited number of titles they are allowed to distribute. Diamond has had a monopoly since the late-mid 90's and it has been one of the worst things for the hobby.
Wizard may be one of the few remaining comic periodical that gets to newsstands but it also is not exactly a publication that is picked up by anyone but comics or media fans or kids. Most people never give it a second glance so it will not be a huge deal when it goes under. That being said I think it is too bad they will go under ... mind you they really did it to themselves.

Earl.
They're usually at the end of the run of the title before the annuals start.

I said it before and I'll say it again for emphasis. Why doesn't the site donate their price guide services? Surely it could be an opportunity to get a free plug for the website. This would be a good time to submit some Gold Key prices for the titles Dark Horse will be launching. The data is already there! They don't have time or resources to maintain a price guide, but that is what people want from them. It wouldn't hurt for the cpg to actually publish a price guide and put Overstreet to shame.

Publishing a price guide would garner the same criticism that Overstreet or any other published price guide gets between releases. The way CPG does it now is just fine. (That is assuming they are drawing their data from many sources and regions.)

It just seems like everyone in this industry likes to fish from the same pool of potential fans. There are still a lot of people who don't know this site exists.
Also, the difference between Overstreet & CPG is that you can come here and ask a question about why a price is listed as it is. I'll even credit the answers as being reasonable and intelligent. Overstreet doesn't update prices even when their expert advisers research it for them and hand them the data. At least here you can interact and point people to objective evidence as to why a price should be different.
