What is up with these sellers these days? Within a week I've had sooooo many bad experiences. Before I'd buy books posted as VF and was never really satisfied so I started buying books only posted as NM.
I bought from one guy, 5 x-men books all listed as NM and NONE of them were. They were ALL in poor condition. Complained to eBay. They offer a refund of the money I paid for the books, not for the shipping I paid PLUS I still have to pay for shipping to ship the books back. After everything is taken into consideration, I only get $1.50 of the money I spent. NOT WORTH THE CLAIM!!!!
Then another guy lists all kinds of Uncanny X-Men books as NM. I bid on them. Won them all for an average of around $1. When they arrive, I get books that are not NM but instead a low VF (7.5). I know grading is in the eye of the grader, but how can someone not tell the difference between NM and a very low VF? I have a feeling he wasn't happy they sold so low so he didn't send the NM copies.
I want to file a CLAIM, but again, i'll end up losing money.
Have you guys ever dealt with this? And this is just the two i'm telling you guys about. There's three more ---- all within a wek of each other.
I'm coming for you Fantastic Four #48!!!

| Are you asking for pics before you bid? If so, you should already have a decent idea of what you'll be getting. If not, you've hopefully learned your lesson by now with 5 bad experiences.

I would still file a claim. You get some money back and you do help others if the seller has many of these claims. Take the money and don't send them back if you have to to recoup some of your funds by not paying for shipping them back.
It is a real sad thing to hear that this has happened to you so often recently. I myself have had this happen and I just give poor feedback for the seller and write it off at that. I do keep a list of sellers I wont buy from again just in case I want to bid on a given book and then find out I dislike the seller and hold off.
My over graded books I receive tend to be ones that I pay over $50 on and get burned by a poor grader of a seller. 75% of the time if I tell them they are over graded and I want to return them they agree to this and refund the money. Other refuse.
Hope all works out for you and that you have better luck in coming auctions. The bottom line is to try to keep your cool and work these out with the seller. Then if nothing happens file your claim and give bad feedback.

Unless you have enough high res scans (and you should be asking for them if their auction images suck) always assume that the books are at least on grade lower. Probably more than 90% of the people do ot know how to grade properly (or even try).

| I think you just need to watch who you are buying from. Don't buy from Joe Blow.....buy from reputable comic sellers who sell regularly on there and you shouldn't have too many problems. Any time you buy from your average guy on there....you run the risk of being let down. I love buying on ebay and am rarely let down.

I've bought from so called eBay power sellers and have been ripped off. They advertised NM and I would get a 7.5 or 7.0 and they'd try and blame it on the fact that everyone grades differently. With this other guy I think he was mad that his auction ended with his book selling at 1.99 so he purposly gave me a crappy copy.
One I just opened a case on charged me 19.00 for shipping on a few books that added up to 7.00. I paid because I really wanted the other book and he said all the shipping would be used on the package. Package came, said 2.77 postage on there as well as a cheap packaging job so I reported him and now eBay is going after him for my refund on shipping for pocketing the extra cash and charging so much.
Another guy I won a case against was some guy who I won four books from and he refused to combine shipping BUT he wanted to put the books in one package and pocket the shipping. eBay got his good for that little scam.

You're lucky. I had a powerseller charge me $12 to ship a DVD to Canada. Postage was $3 on the package. Now, I would have been fine with around $6 shipping (still too high, but factoring packaging etc, not out of the stratosphere). I asked the seller why so high and he told me to cover eBay fees essentially (still have the message). Since US buyers weren't being charged to 'cover' eBay fees (at $3 US shipping) I was being goughed (any fees should be factored into the listing price anyway as a seller). I reported him and nothing happened.

This thread very much resembles the "Four Yorkshiremen" by Monty Python.
