Here's a new home to put my other miscellaneous comics. Just picked these up a little while ago. First prints.

Yea, first prints from the first series. The only truly rare first print of that series is #1. I think only 2500 were printed, so a banged up copy could fetch $1000+, if you can find one that is.

Expensive? Not bad. Paid 60 bucks for the pair at my LCS which seems like a good deal in comparison to some of the prices I've seen on Ebay, considering the condition of them.

I had been looking for these for quite some time, I have the 6 volumes but they aren't the same. I always got outbid on Ebay and were usually overpriced at my LCS. (10 bucks an issue usually). So I get a phone call from my friend saying "Hey you like Akira right? A guy I know just picked up a bunch of the original comics from a thrift store, he doesn't want them though. You interested?"

I go over to check them out. All are near mint, no creases, no scratches. One issue has a small dinged corner. And here's the kicker....its the entire series. He says for me to offer him a price, he has no clue about comics, all he knows is that these are worth way more than he paid. Long story short, I got them all for 80 bucks. I just wish I had been the one to find them at the thrift store, he paid 50 cents each....

Buying the last 6-7 issues of Akira off the rack when they were new was almost as much as you paid for the entire run. Well done.
