So, it's Nov. 2008, I'm enjoying this month's Uncle Scrooge, and we haven't seen a Disney comic sense. (Not counting the new ones from Boom, which are based on Pixar movies.)

Any Idea out there what happened, or is this just like the several other times in the past 30 years were Disney comics went on hiatus while they argued out various copyright issues?

Saddened and Annoyed.

Ah, but now the question becomes, will Disney drop their contract with Boom! and just have their new toy (Marvel Comics) publish them?
Or will Boom! have it for a bit and then Marvel will "inherit" it? just as soon as the right hand figures out what the left is doing.
Or will all Disney comics go back into hiatus, since no one knows and no one can make a decision?

Is this the harbinger of the end of Disney comics in America?

I suspect that BOOM! will not have the contract when their current one runs out. Disney will take control and release it through their Marvel division and they will go right back to sucking as hard as they did when Marvel had the titles back in the 80's or 90's.

I would not be surprised if Disney did start licensing the comics to Marvel for distribution.  However, if Disney thinks thay can make more money through licensing deals with another publisher, I don't see why they wouldn't.  While Marvel is bigger, they don't have any current experience with that genre, and no staff artists to write and ink it.  If Boom! can produce it more cheaply and still pay the licensing money that Disney wants, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to keep the titles with Boom!.

I don't think it will remain that way, but who knows.  Stranger things have happened. (Like Disney buying out Marvel. )

Well my LCS owner and I still think that Marvel will be getting the Disney stuff when the BOOM! license expires ... if not sooner.

Well, Boom is still offering a 12 issue subscription for the big four. Maybe that's the transition line to go to Marvel. But if Disney does have corporate memory of bad sales with Marvel, and no one to call upon in the Marvel corporation with Disney comics experience, then the license might not be moving as quickly as we think it might. Especially since 3 of the 4 big titles have all sold out and have gone to a second print. That's good business. Disney might simply leave it alone for a bit.

Personally I hope that BOOM! gets to keep the license but I am not keeping my fingers crossed.

(yeah i said it) if you're not laughing with me then i am saddened cause i thought it was HILARIOUS!!! but seriously my fav issues of MM and DD were published by gemstone.

all good things must end i guess, but does that mean that we can finally find out if mickey will replace peter parker at the bugle? of donald duck will teach econ 101 at the mansion? and minnie mouse can have a bake off against aunt may in What if...?

HAHA! now that better be laughter!!!
