The "Valiant Collector's Society" recently did a board project that bound all 18 issues of Unity into a hardback. Special inserts were printed. They were signed by some of the creators at the NYC convention. 35 volumes were bound altogether. Members donated their duplicate copies to the project, so everyone will only paying for the binding process. Members were also able to request customizations. I ordered two copies and upgraded mine to leather which substantially increased the price for mine. The founder of the site decided to do that for one of his also.
They are waiting for dust jackets to be printed. The books are already bound and here are the pictures...
32 regular versions

A leather version.

Mine are the only two not photographed. My two will look like the one in the second picture.

| I felt that Unity books are fairly common. The series is above average quality, To me it made sense to take the extras I had and bind them into a more respectable package that could look good on a bookshelf rather than in a comic box. Since the board owner did all the work sending them off... even better. He was in town when the project was being planned, so I just gave him my stack of issues to take back with him.

Those volumes look pretty classy even without dust jackets, and the ribbon marker always adds a touch of class to the package. Nice books, sir!

dazedgtojudge (8/31/2009) Wow amazing ! Super freaking nice
Mine won't ship to me for a couple of days. Again, my two will be leather with the blue ribbon. Only three leather ones were made as far as I know. I'm hoping I made a good choice by upgrading. The leather added $75 each to the price of mine. I wanted the best quality

| Ryan who runs the VCS board made some nice unity dust jackets for the books. Most of them will be a blue Unity artwork cover. He made five red dust jackets. Since I ordered two books I'm getting one of each. Rather than repost his picture of the regular dust jacket, I'll just scan both when I get the books. I thought that was pretty cool to send me both. Depending upon the dust jacket he chooses for his leather edition, I'll either have the only blue or red dust jacket on a leather binding. I suspect he'll choose red, so that would make mine the only leather one with a blue jacket. He also planned to shrink wrap the books he sends out to his board members, but I told him not to waste the effort on mine. I plan on opening them both anyway.

I've been feeling so sick lately, that I forgot to check the front porch for my package that was due. It did arrive. Here are scans of my two VCS Unity hardcover books. Both are leather. Only 5 Red logo dust jackets were made and I guess buying two qualified me for one of those.
Please note that the book looks much better than the scan below. Foil normally scans as black, so getting anything to show gold at all is a miracle.
The book itself:

Here is my scan of the one in a blue dust jacket..

The red dust jacket..

The back cover of the red dust jacket (didn't scan the back of the blue one)

And the certificate from one...
