I'm a film & TV fanatic. The number of films(3,000+) I've seen more and TV episodes(I'll have ask Mr. Owl about that number) I've watched is definitely more than number of comic books I've read(although I certainly own more comics), so I figured I'd follow bobafettesb's lead and start my own entertainment thread.

I'll watch 5-20 movies on any given week, mostly on TCM and occasionally FMC. Whenever I get HBO, etc for free, I'll try to watch as many films on there as possible. I'm usually doing something else(browsing on ebay, grading comics, leaving messages in this forum), while the films are playing. I only sit and watch 1-3 films a week.

I run the projector at our local theater, where we get 1 or 2 films a month, and I'll usually screen those movies alone. But even before that, I had pretty much stopped seeing films with audiences. The last 5 films I saw with an audience were The Simpsons, Knocked Up, Ghost Rider, Ghost World, and Ghost Dog. That's right 3 'Ghost' films in a row with a 6 year gap between two of them.

I've rated most of the movies, a lot of TV series, and a small portion of TV episodes that I've seen at IMDB.com. I find it easier to rate movies with a 4 star system as opposed to imdb's 10 point(or 5 star) system. So, my scale runs from 9(****) to 1(turkeys). I've tried to start rating laughably bad films as 1s, so I need to go through my 2s-4s and re-rate them as 1s. I also need to fine tune some of my film ratings(I'm a bit OCD about this). I also rate TV Series/Episodes on a 4 star system, but I put their max at 8, so that the higher ranked ones would not be on par with similarly ranked films.

Anyway here's some links:
vote history: http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=7048598
comments: http://www.imdb.com/user/ur3103002/comments
(I don't have too many comments, need to work on that because the world needs to know my opinion)

I typically won't spend more than $5(plus tax) on a movie DVD. Probably 75% of my collection was from the 2 for $10 bins at Wal-Mart or as 4 for $20 deals at Blockbuster.
I try to get film/TV sets and collections for 25% of retail on ebay.
I still buy the occasional VHS tape, but, but I try to limit those purchases to $1. I make exceptions of Dr. Who & MST3K because it's hard to find the DVDs at low price, and I'll also pay few dollars more if it's part of a certain series release(i.e. MGM's 007s with the gold tops, Universal's Comedy Legends & Classic Horror)

Here's links to my collections(not 100% accurate):
dvds: http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=7048605
vhs: http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=7048604
(about half of my cassettes were recorded off HBO, TCM, etc.)
partial tv sets(mixed formats): http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=29731920

Picked up a few items at a thrift store today for $1 a piece:
Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in the West (2 disc Special Edition)
Let's Make Love (starring Marilyn Monroe) (VHS)
Goodbye Pork Pie (VHS) (bought this purely because of the title, as it did not have a box cover. apparently it's a New Zealand film from 1981)

and the coup de grace:

There's an NES at my parents, so I'm going to stop buy there tomorrow, and see if it works.
There does not appear to be any damage, I expect it will work perfectly fine.

Yesterday arrived Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire (2-disc Special Edition)
I had been doing periodic searches since about the time the 5th came out,
but the ones I had watched surpassed the $10 mark.
Now that the 6th film has been (or will be?), I started searching again
and won this copy for $6.75(w/shipping).

Went to Wal-Mart today. I didn't have time to do thorough search of the $5 bins,
but I did skim the tops. Most of what I saw were either discs that I'd already
purchased or ones I had no interest in purchasing. I did, however, find one goody:
the animated Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme.

The set of Phoenix(aka Hi no tori): The Complete Collection,
which cost me a cool $6.99 with shipping, arrived last Friday:

It was adapted from the works of Osamu Tezuka, creator of Astro Boy,
and directed by Ryôsuke Takahashi, who had previously directed Gasaraki
and Blue Gender.

Today I picked up a vhs copy of Beat Street for $2.00 at a thrift store.
I also picked up for $2.00 a piece, E.T. and Garfield flat twin sheets and
a Scooby-Doo crib blanket, and for $1.50 a framed rabbit "painting". It's
actually a page from what I believe was a folk-art calender. The glass in
the frame is slightly textured, which gives an added effect to the art.

Two ebay wins arrived today:

"Tom Goes to the Mayor" - The Complete Series for $11.50 (w/shipping)

I love this show. I had been trying to get it for some time for less than $10 to no avail. (It's arrival allows me to delete one of my saved searches, I'm now down to 98, I suspect I'll be back at 100 before too long).

As I was deleting it from my amazon.com wish list and checking the I own it box, I noticed that it had 4 1 star reviews, so I decided to check them out.
Here's a few select lines:
...the animation makes my eyes want to bleed.
This is horrible. It's not even anything like Shrek.
...with such punchlines as children having their limbs torn off by bear traps or the protagnist being raped by dogs it's hard to find the humor.

My second arrival was a bit more standard but a super sweet deal.
For $18.50 (w/shipping) I got the 10 disc Greta Garbo - The Signature Collection. It comes with Anna Christie(also has the German Language version), Mata Hari, Grand Hotel(Special Edition with some nice extras), Queen Christina, Anna Karenina, Camille(also has the 1921 version with Valentino), Ninotchka, TCM Archives: The Garbo Silents Collection(The Temptress, Flesh and the Devil, The Mysterious Lady, and lots of extras), & TCM Archives: Garbo(a feature length documentary).

My most recently arrival was Home Movies Season 1,
which I scored for $7.99 with shipping.

I was doing some browsing this morning and was looking at a seller's other items,
and I came across the title "Poochie animated pink pup." The only animated Poochie
that I had ever heard of was the TOTALLY EXTREME!!!! one from "The Simpsons,"
so I had to find out more. A quick google search netted this:

Went to the big city(Marble Falls) today and hit its Blockbusters' 4 for $20 tables.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno
The House Bunny
Tropic Thunder (director's cut)*
Lower Learning
The Rocker
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
Year of the Dog*
Ghost Town

These are the only two that I've seen from this group.

I passed on a copy of Stripes despite its tempting bonus features:
Interactive Menus and English, Spanish, and French subtitles.
