Spotlight Publishers Collections

Spotlight was an American publisher who produced comics between 1944 and 1945. Not to be confused with the Spotlight comics that operated during the 1980's.

Checklist

1...Bee 29 The Bombardier
1...Gem Comics
2...Latest Comics
1...Ship Ahoy
1...Tailspin Comics
1...Three Ring Comics
1...Twinkle Comics

I am not sure Bee 29 The Bombardier belongs on this checklist.

I actually have a Twinkle coming in the mail!  I'll post a scan as soon as I get it!

As far as Bee 29,

It looks like other sites (Mile High, MSU library, and PGX) have Bee 29 listed as Neal Publications.  Of course, I have no idea if there is a relationship to Spotlight.

I can tell you that the title is mispelled in the DB:

http://www.comicspriceguide.com/p-issues.asp?t_ID=13740

It should be BOMBARDIER, not BOMBADIER.

(If you want me to, I'll post this in error forum, I figured you could probably fix it from here. )

Oh, here's a Bee 29 for sale on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/bee-29-bombardier-1-cgc-graded_W0QQitemZ110211155012QQcmdZViewItem

I'd buy it just to have it if it was raw and priced around $25.00.

I'm not going to pay slabbing fees on a book I'd just take out anyway.

(It would be nice to compare the indicia in this one to the Twinkle I have coming......

Hmmmm......I shall watch this one and see if he drops price.  It may be worth it just to find out!

Wiki info:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Baily

"Other publishers for whom his studio created comics included the Rural Home Publishing imprint Croyden; Jay Burtis; Narrative; Lindsay Baird; Feature Comics; Neal Publications; the Spotlight Comics imprint Novack '45; R.B. Leffingwell; and Holyoke Publications.[4]"

Spotlight comics imprint?  Maybe all those Spotlights are actually someone else?

Do you have one Earl?  If not, I will wait until my Twinkle comes in.

I think with  just what you've seen so far, Bee 29 should be included.  On that scan you put in Biggest Personal, it does say 8 for Spotlight.  And Bee 29 does make the total 8.

Yay!  Got my Bee 29, Twinkle and Tailspin all in today!

Now that I have the slabbed Bee-29, I am loathe to crack it.  I'm going to wait a week or so and see if I can find a cheap 'trash' copy to check the indicia.

Just so we know, here's the address from the indicia info on the others:

2439 Gunnison, Chicago, Ill.

So, I am at 3 for this publisher! (Unfortunately all low grade, but I doubt it would be easy to find any high grades)
