Personally I think I would go for the before than the after product too. There is colour loss and the disassembling then reassembling has shifted the placement of the leaves the final product with less appeal, to me, than the bent book. I would personally work to hone my skill on books that are far lower grades and ... not key.

As I have said before that if you really want to do this seriously you really need to find someone that can teach you how to do it properly. I don't think you will ever learn enough online or in books to be able to do this and do a proper job of it.

Take it as negative if you like but it is the best way.

I would Love to find a teacher and I have tried with no success. So since I can’t find a trainer I should give up or work on junk and not get the right practice? I think not and if I didn’t do all the things people told me not to do I wouldn't be where I am today. I think it came out good since it was my 1st try and have been doing restoration for only 4 months so far. Everyone has a right to their opinion and I respect that but I will not change course. I could have not posted this since it isn't perfect and is a key but I though you all would appreciate the example of pressing. The negative comments will not stop me from working on them, but will stop me from sharing them with you all as I don’t need the grief or I may post them anyways just to spite the complainers but I haven’t decided yet.

Mike, I thought after the conversations we had that you were going to go the right away about learning about restoration. The above post proves that you just don't have the ego for that. To be told you are actually making books worse but have the 'I'll carry on regardless' attitude pretty much sums up that you will degrade many more key books in future without a second thought.

It's a shame as with the right attitude you may have learned and progressed, but that's obviously not going to happen. Why post examples of books that are considerably worse than they were before and not like it when people tell you as much? That will be my last contribution to your attempts at restoration. And the fact that you are still willing to charge people for this is beyond belief.

Well bud, what you call the right way is not accessable to me so I dont know what to say but I am not charging for the work I am doing. Maybe if I did charge people wouldn't be so willing to send keys. My customers are Happy and thats the most important thing to me even though I am doing them for free. I know my site says 1st time is free but thats just to cover me from having to do to many. (BTW my site has to be refreshed to see updated changes....)

I can't please everyone and certainly not non customers. I try to tell my customers no and why and they still want it done. If you guys at CGC thought I was going to stop just because you all told me to than you have me mistaken for someone else. I am doing this for fun (except solvents. their no fun)and have spent allot of money on equipment to do this right and don’t need the business so you can say what you want but I am not going anywhere and will be doing this till I am very old. I am trying to do everything right with disclosure, equipment and processes, professional website and so on. Ok I am beat and tired so gonna take another break from posting. Later
