Hello all,

Comics n00b here. I've been tasked with catalog-ing and listing on ebay a serious collection of comics. My older half brother sold his collection of old comics to my dad about six years ago, and now my dad wants them sold.

There are a LOT of "junk" comics, but I've run across quite a few that are relatively valuable (Aquaman, Silver Surfer, etc).

There are over 5000 individual comics in this lot. I'm wondering if it's worth my time to try to sell them individually on ebay (the demand for comics does not seem very high) or if I should just sell them in large lots.

Having never read comics as a kid, I see that I missed out on something... Aquaman is actually pretty cool!

Can you "scan" some exmples? Condition is everything...

And send me a PM with more information on what was in the collection...Titles, essues, etc...

Certainly, will do.

Forum rules prohibit listing auction links to promote your sales...sorry. Shadow

Most are boarded with mylar covers. Naturally, some of the more valuable ones weren't placed in covers by whoever organized these before me... some of those have yellowed tops and minor damage.

I'm working on a complete listing of each book and issue.

Please remember that forum rules prohibit selling...

You can send a list if someone asks for it...but you can't post it here...

Thanks!...

Oh, sorry about that, my bad.

If someone came on and their post read:

"Here is the comics that I recently found in my grandmapa's attic"

and then gave the list and said nothing else, would that be permitted? I have often wondered why more people do not do it this way.

welcome to the boards btw ibroberts ... enjoy.

I'm just really not up to the job of putting every single one of these on eBay... the viewer base seems fairly small and comics don't get sold for very much.

If anyone would like a list of the more valuable and rare ones I've got, send me a PM.

Oh, sorry about that, my bad.

Here's a scan of one:

Aquaman #53, in fair condition from what I can tell.

Just at a glance...that issue, if complete on the inside with nothing missing (coupons, etc) would grade out at a strict VG, possible VG/Fine...

The strong stress lines by the staples, the scratch in the field of black, and the rounded corners all figure in. It's not a bad copy...many people would consider it great for filling in a missing issue and be a good reading copy...

The price guide lists a "Fine" condition copy as worth $2.80...and since the advent of Ebay and access to a worldwide supply of back issues...you can buy a copy in that condition for 1/3 to 1/2 guide if you're willing to shop around...

And most of the copies of that or any comicbook that are available are in that condition...and readily available. Which is why books with no blemishes at all bring such high dollars on the open market...there just aren't very many of them available...

Not that you might not find a collector somewhere that wants that issue soooo bad they'll pay whatever you ask for it...unfortunately there is no "eHarmony" for comic buyers/sellers to make that match-up...other than the open market.
