I have learned alot in the grading section here but since these defects dont show in scans I havent really decided how to grade those defects. if you have just 1 or 2 wrinkles/dimples do you grade down at all for those. At the other end when a cover is 90% covered with wrinkles/dimples how much would you grade down for it or would it get a 5.0 or lower since it doesn't look well cared for?

A couple of wrinkles or dimples will usually push any book out of most higher grades and depending on what those wrinkles and dimples may have come from and if that process has affected the entire book will push it lower and lower. A cover that is 90% wrinkled should grade lower than a 5.0, imo. I would also doubt that a book with such substantial damage would ONLY be contained to the cover. If however, was contained only to the cover and that was the only damage it may be able to slide into a VG providing the process that wrinkled the cover did not seriously compromise the paper.

Yes, well written indeed and thank you. Believe it or not I run into allot of comics where the cover is wrinkled bad while pages are fine.

If there is no accompanying staining and the suppleness is maintained then the likely the books were stored in a humid environment. I had to store many of my books in an unsuitable environment for several months when I moved to where I am now and several books in one box got humidity damage some also had an accompanying very light but widespread stain. It was all contained to the cover and mostly at the edges, for the rippling that is.

pfft!

I am sorry to hear that. It always hurts when you see your comics lower in grade due to handling or storage problems.

Not a big deal. It isn't like they were really high grade and I don't even own them any more.

Isn't it nice to see a comic-book forum not running rampant with threads about pressing?
