Amazing Spiderman101(Morbius... why is this issue so damn expensive? what does he do anyways?)

I suspect one of the reasons for ASM 101's high value is that up until that issue, according to the tenets of the Comic Book Code vampirism was taboo (there may have been random incidents and characters since the demise of EC, but none as high profile, maybe). But since Marvel bucked the code with the drug issues (ASM 96-98) maybe they figured it was time to reintroduce vampires to comics, hence number 101 being the introduction of an interesting villain, Peter Parker having 4 arms(!) and Vampyrs makes it a very special comic indeed. I remember buying that book off the spin rack at my local drugstore and being totally enthralled with that story arc (#100 & 102, as well) and it may rank as my favorite ASM arc due to it's utter absurdity. I think 96-98 should be on your list due to the Drug Content and the lack of CCA seal. Not sure if there were other books that dared buck the CCA, but those issues are the most memorable and therefore historic, perhaps? ( I can never remember if these issues preceded the DC GL/GA Heroin issues, but those carried the seal, I believe, so maybe the ASM's did set a precedent....).

You are absolutely right. After the ban Marvel then published Tomb of Dracula, Werewolf by Night and Monster of Frankenstein, all early 70's. Can anyone confirm the dates on the 1s of those series and ASM 101?

You know, this got me thinking that they could do a whole lote more with Morbi than his 90's cheesy series.

Very compelling argument! That's what a key issue should be all about... setting precedents, changing the playing field, etc.

Add them to the list.

Well, you got me there. I was pretty much finished with Marvel by 1974 or 75, so I wasn't even aware there was a series with "Morbi". Not sure I'd be that interested, anyways. I liked him as a one shot deal. BTW, I'm pretty sure ASM 101 preceeded TOD, WBN and MOF. I bought all the monster titles as they came out, but don't remember there being any when ASM 101 was issued, other than some of the Marvel horror anthology titles like Tower Of Shadows, Chamber Of Chills and the like....

Yes, some characters do better as guest stars or cameos (Morbius, Cloak & Dagger, and many others).

Wolverine limited series 1

This one was mentioned in the modern age topic, but it belongs here.

Actually 96-98 were the only books that dropped the code....after seeing how sucessful they were...the code was rewritten to allow for more content....the comicbook publishers of the time used this to reintroduce horror to the comic world.

It's not the same character.

The first app of Bullseye, the Daredevil villian is DD 131.
