I must admit that i've only been looking at this site for around two months, but I've notice that none of the modern books ever rise in price nor do half of them reflect the market.
Maybe i'm wrong, but New Mutants 98 is HOT and like the Walking Dead, Fables, and Y: the Last Man should have risen in value.
Other books, Valiant books which sell for high on eBay and through Craigslist should have risen too.
No one is perfect, I know, but I offer you my help in dealing with the price guide. I have time on my hands till October and I would research eBay for final sales and also call comic stores for what they perceive as hot books as well as books that are selling for above guide.
Just offering my help and opinion. That's all.
I'm coming for you Fantastic Four #48!!!

It isn't worth noting short term modern price trends. If books like New Mutants #98 CONTINUES to increase and hold high values and demand for over a year and the guide hasn't adjusted yet then worry. Thing is most of the "hot" books are not "hot" everywhere and that has to be reflected in the guide too. BTW eBay is not an accurate way to guage market values. I have been finding that in many cases people are spending MORE on the 'Bay than they may otherwise have had to elsewhere. For me I look on eBay last and only bid when I KNOW that the price reflects what the meatspace value is.
Anyway, unless you are actually buying comics as an investment worrying about values is a waste of time. (BTW if you are trying to invest by buying moderns you are nuts because most books released now will never have significant value ... unless the population collecting books drastically increases and they all want what you have)

I wish it were true... but I think I am in a good place having a 14 y.o. son and an 8 y.o. son... and while kids do know comics from the movies... THEY DON'T read comic books... they just don't... wish it weren't so... but as a 47 y.o. -- kids did read comics in the late 1960's early 1970's for sure... Now, not so much. ---
