| Okay, I've done some preliminary scanning of these forum boards though this is still my first day. Please bear with me. A buddy of mine asked me about a book he has. Now I've read what Joker has to say about signatures only being worth something if it's a key book and if the sig is from a key member of the creation team. The book is the reprint of Fantastic Four #1 (already looked up: 3 bucks). The signature (looks authentic) is definitely a key being Jack Kirby. Added twist: book comes with certificate of authenticity and is #465/1961 signed by the man. Now I know, to J.K. enthusiasts and FF fans this book is worth considerably more than 3 bucks but I can't locate any price guide standard and he doesn't have the first clue what he has (didn't even know who Jack Kirby was). Some feedback/info would be appreciated here. And please keep the slamming to an absolute minimum. I know I've opened myself up to quite a well deserved barage of guff.

There are 2 similar comics(X-Men #1 reprints) on ebay right now with Kirby's signature and a COA.
Neither has bids, one is asking for $185 and the other $29 with shipping. There was a completed one that sold for $77, but it came with a plaque. If your friend is looking to sell, then ebay is his best bet. If he's just curious about value, then tell him to do periodic searches on ebay(like Jack Kirby signed, JK auto, JK autograph), and that should give a rough idea about what people are willing to pay for an item signed by Kirby.

Not that you asked, but your basic premise is wrong. The signature of Jack Kirby isn't worth all that much as it is very common, and the reprint of FF 1 isn't much either, so combining them does not make the entire package suddenly "worth considerably more" to anyone. You might score 5 bucks but I would not bet the next purchase of a Wendy's Baconator on it.
Kirby's signature on a FF 48 or Captain America 100 in decent shape might up the ante, but reprints? No, sorry.
Where does he get those wonderful toys!
I have yet begun to surrender.

| Okay. Gracias for the feed. Friend wasn't pleased with what I had to tell him, but oh well. New query, same friend, different book, same set-up (him asking about these one at a time is about to get him nuked). We're talking about a Batman #497 (Knightfall #11) with COA signed by Joe Quesada. This is NOT a reprint. The reason I'm sending out feelers is the fact that I myself don't really collect Fantastic Four OR Batman. I, at least, know who Jack Kirby and Joe Quesada are (which is more than I can say for my friend). Why this guy even has comics in his possession is a complete mystery. But, being the good friend (aka the consumate sucker) I said I'd try. After this, he had better show me the rest so I can do this right. Doing it this way is tedious, annoying and insulting (to all concerned).

Your dealing with a small niche of people who collect autographed comics.
Batman #497 is not high value comic($6 NM), and it is not difficult to find.
Batman will always be a popular title and Knightfall is a good story arc, but Quesada, while he is generally known in the comic book community, he is mostly likely not known by casual and novice collectors, the the latter being the most likely group to be impressed by signed comics, therefore there will less people seeking his autograph or specific works. Also, he's not dead, and like most modern comic writers/artists, he is quite prolific signer.
He could probably sell it for $3 to $10 on ebay. He will most likely get the highest dollar amount around peak search periods: Christmas and film releases.
