I  did an internship at Wizard last summer. Most of the pricing they do is based off a combination of what items are going for on ebay and some sort of pricing software. I think this is the more accurate way to price comics, as it shows what people are actually willing to pay for a product...

Funny, that's what most of the other guides claim too, but you'd be pretty hard pressed to find most 'hot' books wizard has listed realizing the prices they have listed.

It used to make me smile when people compared Overstreet to Wizard as the guy who did the Wizard pricing from 1993 to 2003 (Jon Warren)was the same guy who did the Overstreet price updates for 10 years before that, finishing with Oversteet in 1992 before moving to Wizard. The guy who took over from him at Wizard in 2003 was a member of ComicsPriceGuide.com prior to taking up office at Wizard.

Earl.

One of my friends is a friend of Jon and he used to sent Jon scans of last issues when he worked at Wizard because Overstreet was intentionally listing erroneous information to catch copyright infringement. There was definitely a different pricing philosophy either way. A book could be selling like crazy at $100 and Overstreet would keep it listed at $5. Wizard would have it priced at $100.
