Ok, so I picked up my first "Vinyl Figure" yesterday, by all means not trulely "designer" by any means. It's the Megatron Mighty Muggs figure, got it from Target for 7.58 (+tax). I feel an itch coming on as I started looking online at where I could find more Mighty Muggs, I found out that there is a whole world of Vinyl that I been missing out on.

If any one has any information on websites where I could be, resonible priced items let me know please. Some items outta my range would be anything $30 or more. so basicly I'm only into "minis" and 8" figures.

Mighty muggs are neat, but stuff like Kid Robot is what i'm looking for. Thanks in advance.

This guy I am waiting for...But out of your price range

Now first up...Vinyl toys are "designer toys"! They are called pieces of art even. It's one thing you will get flamed if you call them anything less.

KidRobot was one of the first out there with vinyl toys but now sadly the company isn't that good. They still produce toys but over the years the production quality of their toys have been slipping. Every so often I will purchase something from them. Reccently I bought a case of Endangered Series..Full case!

Vinyl toys aren't on the cheap even if their quality isn't that good.

Some sites you can check out are: http://www.vinylpulse.com
http://www.rotofugi.com
http://www.toytokyo.com
http://www.ningyoushi.com
http://www.vinylabuse.com
http://www.kidrobot.com

Don't get into collecting vinyl toys unless you WANT to spend the money. In otherwords you will be paying prices higher than $30 especially for bigger toys.

Maybe you should look at Munny and Dunnys for now...But even then don't try and collect the first series of Dunnys unless you have a serious cash flow.

And one of the biggest things with designer toys (like comics) are the chasers and super limited toys. Different artists sell out quickly...And when I mean quickly people will sit at their PC and wait for the stuff to go online and it'll be gone within minutes.

I pulled two of the rarest toys in one series..Instantly I had over $200US in my hands...And they were only 3 inches big.

Hope that helps somewhat. BTW..Muggs aren't really considered a vinyl toy since they are for the masses and can be found in target, etc.

Thanks Set One for the information yeah If I do (Which probably will) start collecting it will definately be a "save money, then buy" situation I have money to spare, just not all at one time. I looked at My Plastic Heart and in love with the Yetti figure and King Ken definately looking into those and a few others I love them and your right it's like a "3D Graffiti Art" to me. I love graffiti art, been lookin into Qee as well.

I love how informative this forum is, thats why I keep coming back here. Thanks again.

Also another question I was thinking of buying a Blank MM or even a Blank Munny or Dunny figure, to creat my own figure, might actually take into consideration of creating my own figures once I learned how the materail is made and how to create a figure using PVC.

My only question is does anyone know what paints are used for these figures? I'd hate to use the wrong paint and it runs or for the of chance gets wet comes off, or chips easily.

Just so everyone knows I'm a real collector when I start collecting I take money in question and figure out what I can spend and if it's something I would keep up doing. Comics are my biggest collection but I collect "Urban" art pieces too. So vinyl would be next logical step, the money limit i posted earlier was my non-knowledge speaking, after careful thinking I undertsnad the prices now.

Still any help would be appreciated.

Hmm...

There is a difference...True the muggs might of been made out of vinyl (I don't really know) but they aren't in the same 'market' as designer toys such as KidRobot. It's not me being rude/snobby..It's just a thing.

Ahh...graffiti...hehehehe...I share a passion for the art overal..I perfer illegal over legal walls though.

My Platic Heart is a good group to order from Personally, I've done the majority of my shopping through Rotofugi.com or dirrectly from collectors of the KidRobot forums.

Qees are cool...Few years ago they blew up..Got really huge....And now they are kinda quiet. I've got a few in my collection. Apparently there is meant to be a Sonic The Hedgehog Qee but I don't know when it's coming out.

The Simpsons also had a Qee released a little while ago....There was a custom show of all these different Barts. Some top notch work.

Oh yes..People custom Munny/Dunnys and any other figure...It's truely amazing how creative people can be with these toys. You don't actually need a blank toy...You can strip one that already has a design on it...I've never gotten into customising toys though...Kinda expensive for me to do so. Got ideas bubbling around in my head though.

You best bet for finding out stuff on customising is the KR (KidRobot) forums. I've got an account there and been buying from people there for a while now. The community is friendly but it's well worth searching through their forums before asking questions as people can get a little rude....It's just because the same question gets asked a lot.

Oh also look at MadL toys..They have a nice surface for doing your design on them..Kinda flatter than a dunny or munny.

Hope that helps..sorry, I cannot tell you too much about customs.

I understand ... it was the "for the masses" part that made me chuckle. A tad snobby and not inappropriate in the least.

I do own one MUGG however ... and I bought it at Target ... discounted.
