| I don't know, I'm sort of on the fence with Ultra Klutz. It really seems more like what would have then been considered a ground level book, an independent by today's standards. A handful of these titles seem to have slipped by Kennedy's discerning eye and made it into the guide proper, where they didn't really belong. The thought of lumping the likes of Cerebus, Flaming Carrot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other, lesser-known characters, like Ultra Klutz, into an "Underground Comix Price Guide" seems wrong somehow, but that's just my opinion.

Continuing along with my previous post, Quirk is another character that springs immediately to mind. Kennedy listed the first two issues (which were the only two issues that had been published at that time) in the main section of his guide. Since then, the artist took the character further and continues publishing, albeit electronically, to this day—here's a link to his "store" page: http://www.uninet.net/~thornsjo/files/fifties.html.
I'm not knocking Quirk, or Ultra Klutz for that matter—I have, and enjoy, the comics—but should these titles be listed merely because Kennedy made the decision to do so back in '82?

Found this old post while searching...

"And yeah, Ultra Klutz should be listed, though there are three series, well, sort of . . .
There was the one-shot that was published back in 1981, then five issues Ultra Klutz and Other Tales that Jeff self-published in '84, I believe, which were republished by Onward Comics in 1986 (Ultra Klutz #1-5) and then continued on up to issue #23.
There are also two TPBs: Book One and Book Two: The Wandering Beast.
Hell, there may be even more than that. Ultra Klutz was everywhere.
The "Other Tales" aren't the easiest things to find, as they had small print runs, but I could dig mine out for cover scans, that is, if I can remember which box they're in.

When I said that, I forgot how "kiddish" the Ultra Klutz comics were. After flipping through a few of them about a year ago, I changed my mind.
Do you own any of the Ultra Klutz comics? I'm curious, what about them makes you feel they should be included.

| P.S. I'm sure your searching lead you to Nicholson's own admission that, beginning with Ultra Klutz and Other Tales, the character was "re-tooled [for] all-ages." In the event that it didn't, have a look here: http://fatherandsontoon.com/Bib.html. Again, I wonder why an "all-ages" comic, by the creator's own admission, would fit into an "Underground Comix Price Guide."

| I just figured it was of interest since the 1st one is included in the JK. The 2nd series should be considered in the middle of the Newave era and is basically a self-published (xerox copies) mini-comix (digest size). The 2nd series is also a retool (same story, but softened) of the story in the 1st comic, so they are related. Plus it's not listed in the Overstreet, so it should be listed somewhere and it probably fits more here than there in my opinion. I just picked up copies of #1 and 2, but don't have the other 3.

Well, with all of the porn that's been listed in FUG, I would certainly welcome the likes of Ultra Klutz. Like I said, I wasn't trying to knock the character, I do like him.
Edit: I think the digests should be listed, but the Onward series may be a bit of a stretch.

The thing about Kennedy is that it was inclusive of minis. I'm not sure any Ultra Klutzes but the very first belongs in FUG proper but the minis (and Nicholson did others) certainly fit in the upcoming mini-comics supplement which will surely contain plenty of items that aren't strictly UG.
Of course, I'm not 100% sure whether the minis (and British stuff) will ultimately be lumped into FUG proper but I'm been operating off of the assumption that they will essentially remain three different guides. That would make it easier as different guides may have different criteria for inclusion.
He also did another great mini called Nicholson's Small Press Tirade which is just that, a comics-format rant about his experiences in the (more-or-less) post-newave mini-comics world. Funny and somewhat cruel.
