I don't know. Here are the issue numbers that I got:1-6, 8, 10, 11, 13-20, 24, 27-31, 34, 35, 37, 38, 41-43 . I just paid for them, probably won't get them for a week or so.

In the '90s, I saw #1 at a couple cons for $20...

Hooky is a great one if anyone wants a reccomendation.

Hooky has some of Wrightson's best blobby-looking monster art. I think it beats his House of Mystery art.

I agree. Hooky was awesome.
I haven't thought about that book in years. I don't even think I have that anymore. bummer

I remember that one so fondly because it was my first exposure to Bernie Wrightson.

[...] They were also printed in a higher quality format. MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVELS were square bound & appeared to be hand colored by the artists instead of printed in the old four-color process. MARVEL FANFARE was printed on the "new" baxter paper, which was supposed to contain less acid than the standard newsprint (though some of the pages of my old back issues still seem to have yellowed after all twenty plus years later).

I don't know if they switched paper stock in the later issues but Marvel Fanfare was printed on slick, glossy paper, not Baxter paperstock. Baxter was the thick paperstock first used in STAR-LORD The Special Edition back in 1982. But you are correct in that they were not acid-free. But better than the sub-standard cheapo newsprint stock Marvel was using in the early '80s.

Awesome score! Did ya get the one with Captain America crying and holding a flag on the cover? Excellent Frank Miller work, and for all I know is onlyCA work.

Frank Miller did pencil some Captain America covers back in 1980.

Ah, that makes sense now. Back then, I remember a comic shop guy telling me that these "higher quality" Marvel books were printed on this new acid-free "baxter" paper. I guess I was initially misinformed & mistaken all these years. Wow! It almost feel like I just found out the hospital accidentally mixed me up & sent me home with the wrong family. But, yeah, many of my MARVEL FANFAREs have yellowed. Also, many of my early issues of WOLVERINE, vol.2, which used the same type of paper. I think the original PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL series was also printed on that paper stock?
