| I know everyone thinks Alan Moore is great, well it shows, he sucks. I watched Watchmen and read the series, it is honestly not that great. Yes opinions are like *******, but the numbers shows it. Just a little over $100,000.00 total box office gross? Even the first Hulk and Daredevil made more money. Dont blame it on advertising or theater showing it. They spent more in advertising then the Hulk, Daredevil and Ghost Rider COMBINED! The movie was total garbage. Friggin Scary Movie 3 and Doctor Do little 2 (not 1, but 2) made more money in the theaters

I don't think a movies gross proves that a writer sucks. Maybe you proved to yourself that you dislike him and his work sucks to you.
I have read a few works of his and thought they were good. Other stuff didn't like so much but overall I enjoy reading his work. I thought Batman: a Killing Joke is one of the best comics ever written, that is my all time favorite book hands down.
SwampThing wasn't so bad and Supreme was an alright read. Light of thy Countenance was so so. V for Vendetta was an interesting read. As you said we all have our opinion.
I wonder what V for Vendetta grossed compared to Watchmen...

| Considering Alan Moore doesn't have his name on the film and refuses to have his name on any of the films released based on his work, I don't really see the point of your argument. He's not George Lucas; other people are screwing up his works for him. And because a film isn't popular doesn't mean that it's garbage (just as the opposite isn't true). Watchmen suffered from some wooden performances (mainly the girl, which is unfortunate as almost all of the emotional content falls on her character) and perhaps too much reverence for the source material (the book lacks drama overall, which is not something you want translated into film).

What a waste of time to type that opinion out.
Since you seem to know what makes a good writer why hold back on us? Write your epic and wow us.
Otherwise I will just consider your rant an epic fail in all regards.

Seriously? OMG...
V for Vendetta grossed $132,511,035 and I am guessing it was a flop. You can't compare something of this genre with a true superhero film like Ghost Rider, Daredevil or even the Hulk. Moore-based movies are not targeting the same demographic that Spider Man and X-Men are. Both Hulk films grossed $245,360,480 for the '03 film and $263,349,257 for the new film. Daredevil only grossed $179,179,718. I think you should check figures before assigning the name flop to any comic based film. How about the movie Swamp Thing? How about Barb Wire? Do you even read Moore? He is friggin genius, and few people are even on the same level as he is.
He refuses to put his name on his films, therefore, the "flops" as you call them are done and butchered by others, not him.

No he missed a few digits. Watchmen made $25.1 million in the first weekend. It has slowed considerably but still has earned $107,179,392 to date. When considering the budget it has not performed well but that is more the fault of the movie makers than Moore's writing. Our original poster also hasn't even really considered that Watchmen is a 20 year old story now so it's impact is not as great as it was back in the 80's.
Despite Moore's rather crap attitude he has made significant contributions to the industry. Besides it is not like other writers out there aren't "over rated" as well because their styles don't quite fit a reader's ideals. There are also plenty other writers that have bitter attitudes.

By your logic Danielle Steel must be a friggin' genius and a literary master. So you didn't like the film Watchmen...don't blame Moore, he warned folks like Terry Gilliam that it would be folly to turn it into a film. If you don't like the comic, I guess that's a matter of personal taste. 23 years ago it was an amazing read because there was nothing like it. Now it does seem a little dated, but it's never been my favorite work by Moore. I tend to like Miracleman aka Marvelman better and From Hell is my favorite book of his. I'm not sure I'd recommend either to you, as I'm unclear what you think is a good piece of literature. You seem to base everything on box-office, so I'm not sure you are a good barometer for what has value......

I think the DVD sales will be solid.
It was an "R" rated movie. That might be why not many kids saw it opening weekend?
