| Just out from Diamond Daily.. Adding to the excitement for some of its hottest upcoming titles, Marvel Comics has announced special variant editions with Secret Invasion-style covers featuring Skrully versions of some of the publisher’s brightest stars! The new Skrully variants are similar to the ones seen on Captain Marvel #4, Young X-Men #1 and others. Retailers will be permitted to order one copy of each variant for every 10 copies of the regular edition ordered. Variant List is here

| Thanks for this. I was kind of wondering why they hadn't released any notice about these previously. At least now we know what the ratio will be.

I have found it fun to find these Skrully variants on the shelves at the LCS these past couple of Wednesdays. Missed out on the Young X-men one, but I've managed to grab 1 each of the others that have been released so far. Here they are:

The 1:10 ratio seems about right, based on the number of copies I saw. I like my LCS when it comes to stuff like this, as they are not marking these up at all. They are just mingled with the regular covers, sold for the normal 20% of cover that they give to the "regulars".

There's nothing wrong with this in my opinion... This is simply a neat marketing idea. If you're so obsessive compulsive that you have to have every variant cover across all titles regardless of whether or not you read the book, then thats your problem. I collect variants for X-men Legacy, Uncanny, and Astonishing, but thats it, and guess what, it doesn't break the bank. I look forward to the occasional variant because it provides me a way to seperate my collection from everyone elses, plus I enjoy the hunt. It's not like having variants is forcing you to spend more... if anything, having variants help keep many LCS turning a profit as the markup on them is typically straight profit. I plan on going back to my LCS tomorrow to pic up some delayed books, but I also plan on looking for these variants just to see if I can find them, as I have no intention of buying any of them. There's something to be said about the thrill of the hunt.
