Just wondering if these were good titles, or nothing but gratuitous violence. My GF's into these type of comics, and is a fan of Marvels Zorro series, so I was trying to get a little info on them before I have them pulled.
the best their is, the best there was, the best there ever will be

I haven't started Lone Ranger yet, but I intend to as soon as I can scrounge up the early issues.
I've read all issues of Zorro so far and I think it's great; one of my favorite current titles. Nice art but the writing's the good part. And absolutely no gratuitous violence at all. I've always dug Zorro since I was a kid. I have memories of my mom taking to see some old movies, but I can't remember anything about them, except that I dug them. Or maybe it was on TV?
Anyway, the Zorro comics are really good, you should give them a shot.

I thought Lone Ranger was very good when it started but for some reason it lost me after a while. I prefer the DC Jonah Hex series.
Where does he get those wonderful toys!
I have yet begun to surrender.

This IMO one of the most relevant titles out. I would hate to see it end. PEP you know what you must do.

| I am a huge Matt Wagner fan so I am a bit biased... Zorro is really good - I think it is very well written and Wagner's direction on the art is wonderful. The origin is being told as a flashback, and typical of Wagner, there is alot of story going on - you get your money's worth with his books in regards to the reading. I liked Lone Ranger, but not enough to keep me buying after the first arc...not much substance to the writing in my opinion - each issue could have been done in about 10 pages instead of 22 - alot of wasted space and not enough story telling.

yep yep yep. I just finished reading the first five issues of LR in about 40 minutes (tells you something right there!). The Lone Ranger is such an archetypal character, there's tons of good stuff you can do with him, but so far they've pretty much done nothing. The five issues I've read so far are basically a prelude to an origin. It's just too dang slow.
Zorro on the other hand is still pleasing; well paced, with a good mixture of serious & fun in the old pulp style.
