I mainly collect Marvel/Image/Independents. However sometimes I do grab some DC books. I do grab Trades of Batman now and then, but I don't collect anything on-going in the DC universe.

I have heard some good things about it and just got issue #33. I was wondering what others thought? Is this a good series? Do I need extensive knowledge on DC to understand it? And most importantly, is it for the most part self contained? I HATE how Marvel/DC have so many crossovers and books that don't function independently. I can't afford to grab 3 other books to understand this one.

Just from the 1 issue I have I am probably going to give it a try, but would still like to here opinions on it.

I have issues 1-8 and I am not very impressed by the series. The Supergirl story arc is interesting if you like Mike Turner are. I would try All Star BAtman, everybody give bad comments about Miller scripts but I like his particular vision of the "goddamn" BAtman. And you MUST read All Star Superman, Morrison did his best work with that, if this is not enough, Frank Quitely art is stunning

I collected it from issue 1 until 40 something and overall it was a good series. It basically stayed out of continuity with the regular DC universe and while the issues were usually not self-contained they were only spread out in this book, so you may have 6 issues in an arc but only this book carried. There are some very good stories in the first 35 issues, so yes it is worth it.

I liked it. the art was good, the stories we're fun. Just a fun read...

Now if you have to determine rather its good enough to add to your list of comics each month between all the better high quality stuff out there, thats another thing.

But if money wasnt a problem, id be getting it !

Yeah the few issues I have read through were good enough to get me to come back. Usually with new series I just pick a run of 4-5 and see if I like it but DC always makes me worried because I think maybe I'll like the series and then I'll need to get 4 other titles to just get the whole story like in Marvels' crossovers. And while I can afford another book or 2 a month, I don't want it to be another 3 or 4, know what I mean?

Thanks for your input.

Yeah thanks for the info. I meant that it was self contained to just the series itself, so that's really good. I think I am going to go after the back issues at least and slowly start getting the newer ones.

Haven't really bought/followed much DC since Hitman stopped. Boy did I love that series. DO you read alot of Batman, since your sn is The Joker? Any good TPBs I should get. I have alot of older stories in TPBs but not so much new stuff.

Blood Reign and Blood Storm are very good GN's. If you can pick up Hush or The Long Halloween in TPB form you wont be disappointed. Also you can scavenge the No Man's Land chronicle or Contagion series, they are good too, but those spread over several titles condensed in TPB.

Oh and before I forget and someone calls me out on it.

The Man Who Laughs and The Killing Joke are some of the best examples of Joker works out there!!!
