DC brought Rick Remender in to capitalize on the success of Dark Horse's Fear Agent. When The Atom is collected into a trade paperback, I'm sure Rick Remender's name will be featured prominently, because Fear Agent is getting so much buzz these days.
After John Byrne left, the art became average and the writing was never THAT good, so Atom being cancelled is nothing surprising.
I wish someone would come up with a really interesting take on The Atom, which I think is a character NO ONE has been able to get a handle on. He gets little, he gets big, he gets little, he gets big ... Yeah, it'd be tough getting a unique twist on that one, that's for sure ...
The Catwoman title has only been mildly interesting from the start to me. I think villains like Catwoman need to appear once or twice a year in their respective heroes' books, but shouldn't get their own series.
I never thought giving Catwoman a child was a good idea, so I've not followed CW since the One Year Later arc.
Hasn't anyone learned their lesson from the Spider-man situation that heroes shouldn't be tied down with kids, a spouse, et cetera.

A lot of fans complained about Remender's take. His super serious writing sucked all the fun out of Gail's version. I myself stopped reading when Gail left, so I can't say if I agree though.

| He gets little..AND THERE IS THE ROOM TO MOVE! He gets into his own universe..Personally I thought they were going somewhere with that whole "Palmer-verse" thing..And Ivy-towns weirdness was, as AT said, fun..if you didn't get it, fine, but I'm sure there are those of us that did, and do... I always thought the Atom was one of the more intellectual heroes..I think it should stick around.
