That can't be true. I think there's an auction every week on eBay for Superman's first appearance.

Nope, definitely not one every week. Once this one went up and started getting big bucks, a restored 5.0 (I think it was 5.0) went up on ebay. But these are not seen super frequently. In the GPA, I see three in 2007, one in 2008.

You haven't seen those 'my grandfather passed away and I found these in the attic and I have no idea what they are worth' auctions. Those almost always have Action Comics #1 in them. That comic isn't nearly as rare as those in the comic syndicate would have you believe.

I really don't think so. I tend to notice when there's an action #1 for sale, and I certainly don't see them as often as the tried-n-untrue "my sainted grandfather just died" sales. I have seen some sales that are for one of several reprints, or just plain scams. But I still believe that actual Action #1 sales are pretty infrequent.

Geppi offered $1000000 (some says $2000000)for the Church Action 1 or any NM (9.4) copy and Dave Anderson, the owner of the Church copy, did not sell. There are rumors that this particular copy would get well over one million if it ever sells. If I were ridiculously rich I would probably spend well more than 2 million to buy this particular comic, and if it's not for sale, I'd pay Daniel Ocean to get it for me, along with the Allentown Detective 27
