I'm going this year beyond excited hopefully can get a lot of pictures from it.  The last three conventions I went to didn't buy anything but enjoy all the functions that go on seminars.

Just heard an interesting report from Chicago...I didn't make it as planned...perhaps it's just as well...

Seems DC, Marvel, and Image (to name a few) didn't show up...

Apparently...Wizard cancelled the LA show at the last minute...and did a piss-poor job of conveying that to the participants.
In retaliation the Big Guys all pulled their support of the Chicago show...

Hmmmm...Wizard may have shot themselves in the foot yet again...

Anybody know any more?

Damn... Wizard did more than shoot themselves in the foot, they might as well have shot themselves in the head!

Hi everyone,

i haven't been on cpg in a long time. still collecting comics and still going to the comic con, and as everyear the con is coming up in chicago, i buy tickets for me and my wife, her 2 brothers 18 and 20 decide because of me they get into comics and media stuff . so they would like to go . i get them tickets . i didn't hear anything bad but also no buzz like before, i figure oh well should be a great time like always.

I'm sorry to say, as posted above , no marvel no dc no image . How can this be at a (Comic Con, in Chicago) it sucked . i mean there were people still signing stuff, but it was mostly wrestlers and stars. they were cool to see. but the show was incomplete and without them the show wasn't put together as good, it was like walking through a fleamarket and thats it.

at one point i sat down next to someone as i took a break and she says hi and i said hi and she asked having a good time. and i was like u know not really. and she says its her first time coming but she heard some people canceled in coming to the con, i said really who ?? this was before i got through the whole con and noticed marvel and them wasn't there . she precedes to tell me marvel and them canceled and wizard wont be coming back next year because there is a new con coming to chicago and marvel and dc will be there .

has anyone heard of this ?? i haven't but i hate to say if wizard does come back i don't know that i would go after this happend .

any info would help ...

I have never been to a convention, but my guess is, with today's crap economy, that's why they pulled out.

I have seent his with other types of conventions that I am involved with. Fishing and Hunting Expos, as well as Fishing competition tournaments. Many sponsors were pulling their support due to the economy. ESPN owns the B.A.S.S. (Bass Anglers Sportsman Society) and they cancelled alot of professional tournaments this past year due to the economy.

Talking to some of the dealers at the con they did'nt seem very optimistic about there being a show next year.  It's not for sure either way but thngs do not look good for the Chicago Comic con  The story  I recieved was that the new show that takes place in the Spring in Chicago will carry all the guys like Marvel and DC.  Apparently Marvel and DC dont want to do two shows a year but the earlier stated reason of a 'payback of sorts for stiffing them in LA' sounds very possible too.  Who knows.  It was disapointing...

As I recall Philly was before they got jerked around by Wizard at LA...and San Diego is another company altogether...

From what I hear...the Spring Chicago Con could be a really good replacement for WW-Chicago...and it will have all the majors and even more media...

Except for the fact that its in the spring and not during summer vacation for those of us who would travel to it...it sounds interesting.

If anyone has any more information on the spring Shicago con, please share...
