What do they do with trades? Do they just grade the cover and the outer portion of the pages? Do they not deduct for scuffing on a cover? Even sliding it in a plastic will scuff the cover to some extent.

I had a Bone TPB that I read and re-read many times. When I finally passed it on to someone with kids that liked that character, he asked me if I went out and bought him a new copy instead of sending him my old one - no scuffing ANYWHERE, and the spine was not creased from opening it. What I am saying is, it is possible to keep TPBs looking "minty."

SO by this logic, Godzilla #1 from Marvel or Rima: The Jungle Girl from DC is a $100 book! LMFAO

Only key or significant issues should retain a high value. The fact that they are hard to find in high grade should have little impact.

Avengers #4 = key book

Amazing Spider-man #121, #129 = key books

Hulk #181 = key book

And by your faulty logic everything else but "keys" should not increase in value at all? Book that are not "key" and nearly impossible to find are worthless too? By your logic New Fun Comics #2-4 should have no value at all. Yet people do pay hundreds or thousands for them.

The thing you fail to understand is that YOU do not decide what is worth something it is everyone. If someone want s to pay big money for a high grade Champions #1 or Ren & Stimpy #1 then that is what they value the book at. NO matter how stupid it may seem to you that is the reality of marketplace. Some people WANT to buy their books slabbed and see value added and there is little you can do about it. As well it isn't CGC's fault either they may use this wild and crazy marketplace to promote their services but they DON'T determine values for the books they grade people who buy them do.

getting your pretty pink panties in a bunch isn't worth it either. Its not your money and you aren't buying the books so why the F**K would you even care? Mind you I think it would be fun to see your reaction to the price that The Smurfs #1 (Marvel, Star) CGC 9.8 got on the market this year. That might cause all your bodily functions to cease and we would not have to put up with you incessant blubbering.

How did you know my panties are pink?

They are not in a bunch!

I never said non key issues should not increase in value. BUt they should not be $5 in the guide, but CGC 9.6 = $100!!!!!!

Thats just stupid!

Well there is not much you can do about it. If somebody spends $100 on that book then that is what it is worth.

Your argument is the same laughable crap that a person with the initials MB used to use for the prices people were/are paying for OA from CURRENT big artists. He kept insisting that the hundreds of dollars people were spending was stupid because these artists were not as good as the guys he like from the bygone days that had earned their stripes over the previous decades. Sadly, though being a fairly "smart" person he did not realize that if people ARE paying that price then that IS what the OA was worth.

If you think it is stupid that Champions #1 CGC 9.6 sells for $100 that fine. I think people are crazy for spending that amount of money for that book too, especially since they would never agree on that grade or price unslabbed even if they could personally leaf through the book in person and they trust the dealer implicitly. But that is their choice. I have paid well over market value for slabbed and unslabbed books so I am not going to tell people they are out right wrong and blather on for months about it.

Remember too that the chances that that very same 9.6 will INCREASE in value now is slim since there is no serious shortage of that book. The faster these books hit crazy prices the faster they will plateau and eventually receive a "market adjustment".

I don't care if people want to throw $$$ at overpriced books. I figured people would use logic and restraint.

Its this entire materialism/capitalism/I must possess this object to validate my existence thing I find amusing.

You ARE a no-class shill who only wants to stir up trouble.

EVERYONE - don't feed the troll. He'll eventually get hungry enough to go elsewhere to find his meal.

but he makes sense. I see some guys on ebay selling common books that are graded 9.4 for a small fortune, not people buying them at that price I mean sellers who list them at small fortunes.

It's too ridiculous.

I'm coming for you Fantastic Four #48!!!
