After 3 weeks of not making any bids on ebay, I won this for $9.95 + $2.00 s/h.

Definitely a low grade copy, but I got tired of waiting low priced high or mid-grade to pop-up.
I watched a VF copy go for $93 + s/h tonight(that grade usually garners $50-$60), and
I've seen several copies in a similar condition go for at least $20, so I was pretty happy with this win,
and on the plus side, now I don't have to be extra careful when reading it.
This completed my official Defenders run, but I still need most of the preludes.

I won this over a week ago, and have won plenty more since that I'll be posting about shortly on recent ebay wins thread.

$9.95 for that comic in that particular condition is a good deal,

I've seen it go in similar condition for $22 and up so KUDOS!! Congrats on the completion of your Defenders run!!

TEX

Thanks. As an extra bonus I was able to delete 3 of my saved searches.
Down to 97 now, but it won't be long before back up to 100.

Cool.

I'll be here waiting for you to post all those additions to your great collection.

On Friday I was contemplating a $32 snipe bid on some Hanna-Barbera memorabilia.
As the countdown reached around 20 secs I moved my mouse cursor over the the bid square
and the current bid suddenly jumped to $110 from $26, and a few seconds later it was at $130.
It ended up at $152. Now they just need to add some sound effects.

LOL!!

I HATE, HATE, HATE when that happens! Except during those rare times that I happen to be the seller .

I checked out your recent buys in the "ebay" thread robotcat and MAN!!! did you get some sweet deals. Congrats.

I must say, your Incredible Hulk buys (both recent and past) have greatly increased my interest in trying to collect them (again). I had a run probably from about 160ish-340ish when I was younger. Sadly they did not survive college but I really did enjoy this title.

Great Defenders #1 also.

The great thing about most of that Hulk run is that you can pick most of them up for fairly cheap.

I finished grading most of "DAREDEVIL GREAT 200+ LOT RUN OLDER MILLER ROMITA JR !!!"
that I won a few months back for $69.00 + $14.95 s/h.

what was included:
10,12,19,39,67,130,135,138,140,143,144,145,149,150,152,156,159,165,166,169,171,177,178,

377,378,A4-10
issues 10-195 were mid to low grade with a few higher
issues 196-378 and the annuals were mid to high with a few lower

also included(and yet to be graded/most appear high grade):

Daredevil 2099(1 shot) - 1
Daredevil Chronicles* - 1
Daredevil Ninja(LS3) - 2-3
Daredevil Noir(LS4) - 1
Daredevil vs. Punisher(LS6) - 1,5
Daredevil vs. Vapora(1 shot) - 1
Daredevil/Shi(1 shot) - 1
Daredevil: Battlin' Jack Murdock(LS4) - 1
Daredevil: Father(LS6) - 1-3,6
Daredevil: Redemption(LS6) - 1-3,6

Marvel Spotlight: Joss Whedon/Michael Lark
The Magdalena/Daredevil(1 shot) - 1
What If(Vol.2) - 2
Ultimate Daredevil/Elektra(LS4) - 1-2(have the full set)

The Daredevil Chronicles was put out by FantaCo and includes a 16 page interview with Frank
Miller and Klaus Janson from Nov '81(around the time DD #178 was hitting the shelves), a 5
page interview with Denny O'Neil from Nov '81, a couple of Fred Hembeck strips, a few articles,
some artwork, a DD checklist that listed the writers, artists, titles, a short synopsis, cover
prices, and release date for each issue up to #181, a separate list of the cover artists(which
is great since a lot of the covers are unsigned), a list of titles with reprints, and a list of
appearances in other titles(it's missing is ASM #16).

I'll now have to seek out the other FantaCo books (http://www.comicspriceguide.com/p-issues.asp?t_ID=9707)

here's a piece by John Byrne that was in the mag.
Elektra by Byrne
I did some editing on it to make it black & white instead of black and tan and to eliminate
some of the ink pressed on from the art on the opposite page(some of it can still be seen
underneath her hair).

I scanned some of the more interesting covers. They'll appear shortly in a separate post.

I'm glad that the thread has returned!!

You are working on your Daredevil collection and I'm working the Batman angle!! That was a great lot you got at an amazing price. That's a lot of grading brother. Really nice scans; thank you for taking the time to post them! I never really gave Daredevil a chance. What do you like about the character robotcat?

Nice looking lot of books for that price.  I haven't read any DD in a long, long time...

There's nothing particular about the character that I like. I just like reading Marvel comics in general. I've read a few dozen of the issues that I have and their groups of separate time periods. The earliest ones that I've read are 3,6,7,13,16-17 & 19 the last 4 I've had for close to 20 years, so it's been a while since I read them, but the first 3 are more recent purchases.
They were pretty good. It was neat seeing him start off as a rookie superhero. In #3 he made the classic noobie mistake of calling out his friend's name while in disguise. In this case he said "Watch out Karen!"(he immediately realized his faux pas) and then after the danger had subsided had to come up with a reason as to how he knew her name. It all happened near or in Murdock's office, so I believe he just said that he knew she worked for him. #6 was okay. In #7 he represented Namor as Murdock and then battled him as DD when he broke out of jail.

The next grouping that I read was between 79-101 when he was hangin' with the Black Widow. I bought those about 8 years ago for about $1 to $3 each from a LCS. They were pretty good. My favorite had a villain that made everyone hallucinate as if they were on a bad acid trip. I can't remember how it affected DD.

The next grouping is 227-233, these make up a complete storyline by Miller. I bought these at a convention about 20 years ago. I remember the covers, but the story is vague.

The final grouping is probably between 270-320. These were ones I bought off the rack during my heyday of collecting new comics. The copies I have now are not the same ones I had then. Those probably ended up at HPB or with a friend who bought a lot of my lower value books for $.25 a piece. Fortunately, I've been able to re-acquire them for about the same price.

I haven't made a hulk purchase in a while, but my recent spidey win has arrived:
$16.28 + $18.55 s/h
20 Marvel Tales: # 129,133,134,136-145,179,181-186,
9 Marvel Team-Ups: # 81,93,101,114,115,119,121,122,123
36 Spectacular: #55,62-73,75,76,77,106-113,123,148,157,159,162,166,169,170, Annuals #5, 8 & 9
31 Amazing: 216,218,220-221,223,226-228,230-235,268-275,286,314,340(x2)-341, Annuals 16,19,22-23
13 Web: # 6-13,59,69-70, Annuals #1 & 5
3 Spiderman #3,4,5.
1 WHAT IF VOL.2 #20
This mainly added to my SSM, WoSM, and Tales sets. Maybe 4 to ASM and 2 to MTU
All were pretty much mid-grade books. Only 3 or 4 of them were bagged, and the way were packed(with large bubble wrap) probably added a few bends and creases. But 113 comics for $35 isn't too bad.

This also arrived:
Captain America Thor & Fantastic Four Bronze Age Lot
$17.49 + $12.00 s/h

Captain America 179 180 188 189 192 196-199 219 220 222 224 226 227 234
Fantastic Four 148 149 151 153 156 159-162 165 172 -177 179 183 185-188 191 194 196
Thor 230 235 242 245 247 255-263 270 273 277-279 281-287 297
Marvel Spotlight 30
Doctor Strange 14,17,19,26-28,30

This added 14 Caps, 6 FFs,22 Thors, 6 DrS, and 1 MSpot to my collection.

I was pretty disappointed with the condition of this lot. It's mostly low grade with a few mids. But given that I'm only out $30 for 76 early to mid bronze age comics, Ill get over it.

Ooooh,

You're a FOOM. I have to admit that I'm more of a DC Maniac...but there are some Marvel Comics that I couldn't do without (Captain America, and the Avengers to name a couple). You mentioned that Daredevil called out his friends name while in disguise; that reminds me of the issue of Green Lantern in which Thomas Kalmaku (Pieface) figures out Hal's identity due to that famous punch that both Hal and GL use. If there were three collections that I could own start to finish, I'd choose Green Lantern vol 2 (starting with Showcase), Batman and Captain America vol 1. (starting w/ Tales of Suspense).

I see you got more great lots. Can't wait to see them. You are a master at finding and buying big lots of cool comics, and then copping them for great prices. I've tried to master that skill w/ my Batman/Detective Comics collection. I've been doing okay, but I could be better.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment on your final lot, but 76 Bronze Agers for $30 can't be beat!! And 113 comics for $35...fuhgheddabouddit!!!

I'm glad to have you back robotcat!
