I have gotten to where the old Dells are the main thing I am collecting.  I love the Dell Four-Colors.  Even started a web page that is a chronological listing of all the four-colors.  Still working on finishing it.  I do not think it is advertising since it is a free site (although it does have ads in it).  Just go to http://www.mike-julie.com  It even has a lnk back to here on it so that should help.  But when you get to the Dell Four-Colors, any of them with scans are my own books.  Got a side range of them although less than 100 over all.

Let me know what you think.  I did this listing since I wanted to get all of the titles in on list where I could see what issues and titles came when.

That's a turn around Mike I remember when you were Mr. Silver Age Marvel and did not much like pre 1960 comics. Glad you are enjoying the Dell's.

Earl.

When I was about 8 or 9, I started collecting comics from the 50's and 60's like Dennis the Menace, Daffy Duck, etc...... as I was very familiar with the cartoons, and Dennis the Menace.....well that was just a fun read for a kid.   Then G.I. Joe came about in the mid 80's and my friends were collecting them......and since I was loving the action figures...my collecting habits went from old Dells and the like....to Marvel's G.I. Joe, and then Star Wars comics.  Then we moved to a small town and I had no where to go to collect them...so I started collecting Garbage Pail Kids cards because those could be found anywhere.  Then it was baseball cards...then basketball cards....then and still now...Toys (action figures mostly), then I got into super hero comics.....went through the whole rise and fall of Valiant....jumped on the Image band wagon and bought up the early to mid 90's........then went solely to action figures when the comic market crashed.  Now, in the past 3 to 5 years....I am back to where I started.  But now, I have more money, and ebay.  The only difference is when I was 8, there was no end to how many old comics might exist.  Maybe I hadn't yet found that old Dell Foghorn Leghorn comic...everytime I went to a comic show, I'd see things I never knew existed...and four color comics were numbered into the thousands......wow I thought.....it was endless.   Now....I know the boundries, I know the beginning, and the end......and there is not nearly as much as I had once imagined, however, more than I ever could afford to collect.

My collecting life in a nutshell.

Earl.

Still doing a bit with the Marvel Silver-Age as well as these.  Just once I got a few of these, they facinate me.  What with the ones I had from my sister to the ones that cover TV shows that I grew up with.  One of the big things about these Dells is how they follow the culture of the time.  Movies, TV shows, all the things the public was interested in.

I comment on some of that on my blog at http://goldagecomics.blogspot.com  Not doing a lot on this one, but working on it.  It goes along with the http://www.mike-julie.com  Unfortunately, I am spending more time on my http://tivolistoragemanager.blogspot.com  Last one is work related.

So many websites, so little time.

Let me know what you think....

I am thinking of breaking down the list of the Four-Colors into sections by years (year?) to make the lsit more manageable.  May or may not include the full list as well.  Would add a background on each page of a comic that is from that subset.

What do you think?  Should I break it down like that, keep it together, or have both?

There used to be a cool DELL site that had cover images for 99% of all Dell comics.  They were arranged on one main title page in alphabetical order and some issues were repeated for example....if you clicked on FOUR COLOR...you would see FOUR COLOR 1-100 on page one.....but if you clicked on BUGS BUNNY, you would see all of the FOUR COLOR issues as well as the regular series run.  It was a REALLY great reference site, but it got pulled by the owner a couple years ago and has been MIA ever since.

Interesting idea.  I was so focused on the chronological....  Going to have to think about this.  And while it is scans of my own books right now, I am planning on adding scans of the stuff I do not own as well.  Which of course is 90+% of it.
