THis is one comic where the value and grade doesn't matter as much in my opionion.  I think its a great keepsake for a comic book collector who has a love for history.

Really nice book.

Even back in the late 1970s...a long conversation I had with one of the country's premiere Golden Age collectors and advisor to OPG brought out the observation that thanks to the paperdrives of WWII...and the bookburnings of the mid-1950s...with many of the golden age books, it's not what condition your book is in...it's whether you have a copy at all...

That's it!  Everyone learned to hate history in school, so there's no demand for historical artifacts

People go nuts over the shiny new things instead. (Which can't stay new for long.) - Obama cards - super hot.  Desert Storm cards - 90% off retail.

(I paid $10 for mine (including postage).)

People are goofy.

I have a copy of  KNOCK KNOCK too.  Found it at the bottom of a pile of miscellaneous paper stuff in one of the junkiest antique stores in Duluth this summer.  Paid about $10 or $15.

Got home and researched it only to find out that this book was the introduction to the world of the Knock Knock joke.

Who'd a thunk it?

I'm a massive fan of the "Ducks"! I've got one of the five known "variants" of WDC&S #4, FC #62 "Frozen Gold", FC #178 "Christmas On Bear Mountain" (1st Uncle Scrooge), FC #386 (U.S #1), plus a complete run of Sea Hunt, almost complete run of POGO, almost complete run of Mod Squad, almost complete run of Animal Comics, plus lots more!
I'm hooked, I guess!

Well...I'd have to say Disney holds a large part of it...probably followed by the Warner Bros books...Bugs, Looney, and the like...But I also have a soft spot for the MGM material...I have a near complete runs of Spike & Tyke and the Mouse Musketeers...

I've collected the Tarzans and Turok since I was a Kid...

I grew up watching alot of the Western Heroes they covered...so I own a lot of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Lone Ranger, etc...

I'd have to say my favorites among the later stuff were the Jungle and Superhero books...I have complete runs of Naza, Kona, & Toka...Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Werewolf...

I interveiwed Tony Tallirico and published an article for Alter Ego magazine about the Frankenstein superhero series...and still have plans for follow-up articles on some of the other superhero attempts...

I'm always looking for decent copies of the Four-color series and TV tie-ins I don't have...still trying to complete my runs of Steve Canyon and Prince Valiant...

I guess I just like them all...

Thats awesome Shadow. I really like that fact your collection is so diverse.

are your interviews taped or just a article form?

well Shadow I don't know if you read my thread but I'm looking to buy a 30 year old store that has a least 10,000 to 12,000 GA and over all close to 75,000 to 80,000 comics.  I'll keep you posted on it and see if you need any fills off of them.  My wife okayed it last night once the move is done it will take about 4-6 month to complete the transaction.

Anyhow thanks for getting this thread going I think its a very important part of history and this thread will be a good learning experience for the newer collectors as well.

JJ
