As my board regulars may know, I've been going for two sets of the Diamond Limited TPB's. I cringed a little bit and sent off payment for this last week. Here is my 2nd copy of the Diamond Limited Youngblood TPB. This is by far the worst of the bunch. Pages are upside down. Cards bound in. Just a really sloppy product that didn't get planned well.

Still a cool find even with the production problems. Are pages upside down on both your copies?

I'm answering this again... but yes. You have to spin this in circles to read it. Although I still think this is pretty limited, I've amassed 4 copies and I've told myself not to buy another one no matter how cheap it is. The last one I bought was priced $10 on the sticker, and knowing it was pretty rare, I thought that was a good deal. When I go to pay, the dealer says "That'll be a buck?" I said "A Dollar? He says "Yeah, everything in these boxes is a buck." I thought... "Oooookay!" and didn't argue. A dealer at the same show found a Cyberrad TPB and he said it sold fast on Ebay. I think he said he had a BIN of $50 on it.

Newsflash

An Image comic in 8.5 condition sells for $510...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190211833107

Which has prompted me to keep a closer look at big sales from this publisher. CPG previously had this valued at $48 in CGC9.4

Maxx 2E [Black Ashcan Edition Limited to 50]190211833107CGC 8.5$510

A collector in California was hoarding these and it was extremely limited anyway.

I have 327 image comics.  Most of those have to deal with Witchblade some way or another.

shh.... I'm not suppose to be collecting comic books.

The only image comics I'm collective are the B&W ashcans comics from the 90's.

I started making a list of ashcans, but didn't put a lot of effort into it...

http://defiant1.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=imagecomics&action=display&thread=1441

Most of the image links aren't working.

I do have the Club Homage newsletters.

Club Homage Newsletter Vol. 1 #1

Two buttons...

3 postcards, well the StrykeForce is a postcard and the other two are odd shaped images on card stock...

One introductory letter..

One trivia flyer..

Two poor quality flyers trying to sell limited ashcan comics..

Issue #2

Issue #3

It came with two cards....

I never see that stuff for sale anywhere.

I'm responding to this because CPG has inaccurate information regarding these ashcans...this one here is for black ashcan#2, not #1, which the price guide has it listed at. There is a big discrepancy here between the two because it is known that a single collector has a very significant number of the number two books (almost cornering the market) which is the reason the number two went so high compared to number one which has popped on ebay from time to time. Just something i wanted to clarify, the priceguide on this site still hasn't changed this discrepancy, not sure who put the number two comic up for an image of number 1?

Thanks for the info. I have attempted to correct several problems with the Maxx Ashcan listings. Could you take a look at the listing now and see if you can see anything that is still out of order.

Thanks.

Earl.

I've read this long ago but dismissed it since I figured no price guide would actually determine value based on one individual owning 8 copies of an issue or on one recorded sale so I'm surprised to see that CPG has determined these three values:

Maxx Black Ashcan #1 $100, Maxx Black Ashcan #2 $400, Maxx Black Ashcan #3 $100

I wouldn't be able to offer an opinion on value for those three books but I can tell you that the standard for a price guide is that the #1 issue is usually the highest with descending issues dropping in increments unless the descending issues contain something special like an origin or first appearance or other significant event.  And the Maxx #2 and #3 do not.  The print run is also the same for all three.  There is only one recorded sale for any black ashcan on GPA and that is for the Q 8.5 #2 at $510.  A raw black #3 sold in October 2009 for $150 on Ebay but that sale has not been recorded on GPA as of now.  There are no recorded sales for a #1 that I can find anywhere although I know that one was BIN'd off Ebay in 2006.  It was mentioned that one individual owns multiple copies of #2.  Is it not possible that there are others hoarding multiples of #1 and #3?  And if those CPG values are based solely on the one $510 sale, then that is not an accurate reflection since there are only 3 or 4 recorded sales of all three issues.  I say recorded, as opposed to "I've seen these sell from time to time..."

I hope this helps if you choose to change the ashcan values more in line with the standard.
