| Inside one of the covers...or on the very back cover...is going to be a list of the stories published up to the time your copy was published...and an order form to order any issues you might have missed, up to that point... The biggest number listed is the HRN which means "Highest Re-order Number"... If your issue is a first printing, the highest re-order number is going to be the same as your issue... If the re-order number is higher than your issue, than it's a later edition (meaning they put out additional issues/titles since your's first came out)...and you look in the indicia for the publication date. The publication date added to the HRN determine which edition you own... Additional notes: 1) Line-drawn covers were on the earliest of the lower numbered titles/issues..."painted" covers were on the later editions/issues... 2) Towards the end of the original publishing by Gilbertson...many of the issues had an edition with a thicker, stiffer cover... Hope that helps...
--Shadow CPG Administrator (since 2003)And don't forget that some of these were printed as Classic Comics in 1947 before Gilbertson started printing them. So if you have one that says Classic Comics count yourself lucky! (And it very well may be listed under the Gilbertson title if the start date for the title says 1947).
