So it seems to NYC Comic Convention is just about a month away. I skipped it last year and kicked myself for months afterward. I'm definitely going this year.
For anyone who's going to be there, I super duper highly recommend that you take a little trip down to 14th street and 7th avenue at some point, to check out Time Machine. It's the best comic store I've ever been to, nothing even comes close. They've got new comics, but the main deal there is back issues. The store's reasonably big, and it's just about all back issues. The owner, Roger, is there most every day, he's a very friendly guy, and he bends over backwards to make you happy and give you a good deal. In this era of Barnes and Noble-style stores like Midtown Comics, Time Machine is a fantastic find. Really, do yourself the favor, you won't regret it.
(Man, they should pay me for this glowing review huh?)

| wait is this the one where you gotta walk down like three steps and then you open the door and are inside? I went to some comic place and the guy was cool but I couldn't find the place. Wonder if this is it? Yeah I'll definitely stop by!
Hopefully they'll buy 5 of my indy comics and place them on the shelf!

I was at Time Machine a few years ago -- beautiful store. Roger was indeed very helpful in regards to trying to track some stuff I was looking for. The only thing I don't like about the store is that there are no price tags on the back issues. Kind of kills impulse buys for me.

Roger's the man. Not having price tags means, in this case at least, that all prices are negotiable. It did throw me off not having them the first time I went there, but since I've gotten used to it, I find the price tags at other stores to be a total turn off.
He does have an Overstreet Guide sitting around that you can check out, to see what the comics you're looking at will cost less than.
** That was really poorly phrased, but I couldn't figure out anything better. **

| okay so I don't think I've been there then. I'll check it out. I was walking around and just stumbled upon this comic shop. So if you don't have to walk down some steps (3+) then i've never been here. Wow though if no prices up, then the negative is he could charge the listing value vs. the quality value . But a positve is you cna just write the numbers in you head before you stop by and purchase then you can negotiate price.

Not sure what that means. The Overstreet Guide is hanging around all the time, you can check it out to see what anything is listed at (well, for comics at least, he's got a lot of magazines and stuff too). Prices are always below guide. What they are exactly depends on a several factors, and the general vagueries of life.
