| So I found a bunch of HIGH GRADE comics on ebay by the same seller and all of them are CGC graded with a GREEN label that says Qualified Grade and then it says Married cover. It also describes that the cover was a file cover that was saved by the publisher, and the coverless comic was also a file copy saved by the publisher, and then much later....possibly NOW...they were attached to each other and sent in for grading. So my question is....how much does this hurt the grade when compared to a non married cover?? Is this a big deal to collectors....or should it not really matter much? And, how can CGC tell that it's a married cover vs just a really mint copy, unless the person who sent them in told them?? Just curious. The big deal about it is....these books don't show up graded higher than a 4 or 5 normally....and these qualified graded ones are 8.0 up to 9.4.

| They can pretty easily tell when it has been restapled. Also, condition of the paper of the pages vs condition of the cover page can give an indication if it has been married. I don't know how others feel, but I think it becomes a 'fake' grade. You have 2 parts put together to make one piece. You might as well glue pieces of covers together to make one cover. Or, take Marvel Value Stamps and glue those puppies back in from cheaper books to make your books complete. To recap: I have no strong opinion on married covers either way.

| For golden age books, books with married covers/cf's are generally acceptable, though original/unmarried are preferred. This is due to the scarcity of such books. They are valued at lower prices than unrestored books with comparable grades. Books more recent than golden age are so common that books with married covers are generally not desirable, aside perhaps from the super keys.
