As some may have noticed way back when, at the time of the release of the first few issues of Final Crisis I was gleefully disdainful. I thought it just sucked. But something really weird seems to have happened. ... I tried rereading the first three issues, along with the plentiful spin-offs, and they're actually pretty good. What's up with that? I can pretty much follow it, and I'm actually wishing I had issues 4 & 5.
Anyone else changed their mind on this one? I know I wasn't alone in my distaste.

Final Crisis's main title has been a pretty bad let down, all hought theyre obviously delaying it so long to change it up so it finishes better than Morrison had planned for it. So DC did a good thing there...
But ALL the tie ins have been nothing but awesome.
The main title, yeah, not so good..but still decent...
tie in's....Awesome job on all other writers involved.
Blew Secret Invasion away.

Speedy-D (12/28/2008) As some may have noticed way back when, at the time of the release of the first few issues of Final Crisis I was gleefully disdainful. I thought it just sucked. Anyone else changed their mind on this one? I know I wasn't alone in my distaste. This is the Morrison curse. I always liken reading Morrison to watching Pulp Fiction. If you dont mind gettig pieces, it will all make sense(eventually) when you have the whole story. Unfortunately, comics come out once a month and for months you have to wait in complete frustration when stories like that are not presented in a linear fashion. Best example is his Batman work which he has been writing for some time now. All of it makes sense when looked at the greater whole. Now, my style of preference is more like what Dini does in Detective. Complete whole stories with a linear approach and a beginning, middle and end. As you are now seeing the whole story and you can read it as a whole, it is starting to make sense. But candidly, this one has just seemed to drag out to long for me.

Well, as I said, I liked reading the first few issues a lot more this second time around. So, I went out and got #4 & #5. I read them last night, and ... blecchh. I thought for sure I'd follow it and get it all. And I could follow it, I did get it all, it was just annoying me. I thought the page with <potentialSpoiler>Barry Allen getting back together with Iris</potentialSpoiler> was really sweet and touching, but beyond that these two issues left me very cold.
Ah well...

didn't buy any ties ins and the main book left me bummed out that I bought them. Was wishing for something better. I always feel that the book should hold its own without the help of tie in books. With cash low I didn't want to buy a whole array of other books. Still have more coming due to the fact of ordering months in advance through previews, so maybe my thoughts will change also, not holding my breath

Speedy-D (1/8/2009) That's one of several reasons I bailed on pre-orders, despite the lower price tag.Yup, you find out a title stinks and you have three more issues coming. Yuck!!
