Hi there!

I'm new to comicspriceguide. I looked around for information on buying and selling, but couldn't find any so I am here...

How does the whole process work on buying comics here? My initial impression is that it looks like CPG provides a medium for buyers and sellers to interact? If the buyers/sellers wish to engage, then is it outside of CPG? I have concerns with who I should be buying from. Can I trust the sellers? If I am not satisfied with a purchase, what recourse do I have?

Thanks.

You have to watch anyone regardless of who when you buy a comic that is not CGC graded. HOwever, since most members are serious collectors they have an idea of the proper grading. But you need to make sure you discuss with each seller exactly what their policies are, and if any questions have them send you a scan.

What are your thoughts on Variant covers. I remember in the late 80's and 90's, they used to put out these multiple cover issues and it drove me crazy and confused collectors. SO I got out of collecting. Now that I'm getting back in, I'm seeing these variant covers again. Is this different from the 80's system? Is it worth collecting Variants, or are they just a gimic that will devalue over time?

ANy thoughts?

Personally, I think its another revenue stream for the companies, but I still continue to foolishly buy them! Although most if not all variants are rarer (ie. 1:4 or 1:10 ratio with the regular covers), I think over time, the value of the variants will the same as the regular covers. OTOH, if the variants are like 1:250 or 1:1000, that's obviously different. Another factor to take into account is the popularity of the cover.
