| I grade off the book itself. I think you are correct that if I scanned each book and looked at the full size scan I'd find more defects but realistically I've got over 4000 comics in my collection I've graded and I'd never have the patience (or drive space!) to grade each one by scanning first. You raise another point there about the quality of my scans. What size do you guys usually set them at? I have been going 1300 pixels across but I get into the forum and I find its just not showing the detail I'd like. Thanks Basq/Joker though, you are bang on your grading of about 1 or 2 steps tighter than me

| I scan the book at 300 DPI and import it into Photoshop. I then crop the scan to remove extra space around the edges and "Save for the Web" at high quality. This effectively reduces file size without sacrificing quality. I then upload it to photobucket without resizing as they only allow 1024 X768. As far as the book itself I would go with a 7.5. That top staple does look like it has some issues but it's hard to say how bad from the scan. There also seems to be a fair amount of creasing on the back. Still a pretty solid book.

I agree with 7.5 (round corners and dirty stripe along the back spine)

The man wanted to see #47 in FN condition so youd best make some of those defects disappear. In all honesty, that book looks better than VG unless i'm missing something. Is the top staple attached?
