I have always understood that writing doesn't effect grade below VF levels so I discounted the writing in my grade. I think that book is a 4.5 without the writing. The comment about Spidey's crotch/webbing is a feature of the book more of less. I think I'll drop it then, I'd just love some input on the decisions to put it in the 3.0 range.

As for the next pick I'd take Avengers #48 from MonsterMike. First appearance of the Black Knight in a Good 2.0 grade.

What's in my long boxes? http://www.comicspriceguide.com/world/default.asp?m=icebreaka

I went low because there's a lot of general wear. The spine has many color breaking creases and there appears to be a tear on the right side of the cover by Mysterios arm. I'm not saying your wrong with your grade but from what I have to judge, that would be a 3.5 in my collection. A scan doesn't always tell the whole story either so we may be a little low.

Dropping your pants will not get you comics.

Some writing doesn't affect the grade, but excessive does. The reason I dropped it to a 3.0 is because of the overall affect the writing has n the book (It is not a delivery date or person's name) and the right side tear or whatever that is not explained.

Where does he get those wonderful toys!

I have yet begun to surrender.

I guess 2.0 or 2.5 sounds right. It's really all about that lower 1/4 of the cover, the top of it is in much better shape.
