What is a "CGC" number? Is it a good idea to store comics in plastic pouches? If so, where can they be obtained?

Well, if by CGC number you mean grade, then you yourself will have to figure that out. This very site has a section that can help you with grading - and plastic bags WITH backing boards are pretty much a necessity. There are many online shops with bags&boards available, but if you have a local comic shop (or LCS for short) then that's your best bet. Just make sure to get Silver-Age sized bags, as the older comics were larger than modern ones and will NOT fit into modern-sized comic bags.

Thanks again. I was PM'd by an admin that I was borderline breaking the cardinal rule, so I will be careful about posting on this thread. Perhaps I should lurk and get a feel for the culture of comic book collectors and take my cues from that.

pepar (10/4/2008) First of all, my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place If I have, please point me in the right direction.
I have comics from the early 60's to the early 70's that I am interested in selling. They are mostly DC - Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Atom, Flash, etc, etc. A very quick look into the box shows that my oldest - at least on the top of the box - Flash is 129. My oldest Green Lantern is 16. I have just discovered this site and can use it to catalog and grade the issues. This was a "working" collection, so none are mint. But none are ripped up either. So it's probably worth my while to do the research to educate myself on what I own.
I need advice on the best way to maximize the $$$ I get from them - where to sell, sell them as a lot, sell them individually, etc. I am active on ebay so I am not a stranger nor do I mind taking the time to sell on an auction.
TIA!
The way I see it, this post was about you looking for advice, not trying to sell them here.
Tell the admin to ***EDITED***
(just kidding, at least about the last part!)
